What this bond does

Support the applicant's City of Richmond Heights specialty-contractor registration with the current required surety security.

Who needs it
Specialty contractors matching the company, responsible person and described work to the City's current registration packet.
Who it protects
The bond addresses damage from the principal's work, registration duties and lawful City orders. The City and parties injured by the specified noncompliance may bring an action. This registration surety is distinct from the separate permit-related cash bond deposit.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Use the updated registration packet and describe the specialty

The updated application and adopted ordinance establish the minimum $25,000 requirement. Do not use the older application revised February 2008, which omits it. The current packet includes a surety form revised April 2023; that instrument's revision date does not cancel the later minimum stated in the updated packet.

Check Specialty Contractor and describe the work. Match the company/principal and responsible person, confirm required code-reference blanks with the City, and use the accepted calendar-year entries. The bond names the City as obligee; additional-insured status belongs to the separately requested liability evidence, not a substitute label for the bond recipient. City tax registration and applicable State credentials are also separate.

Purchase Now opens Propeller in a new tab. Match the current City instrument, approved specialty, at least the required $25,000 and actual dates. After issuance, check principal/surety signatures and required powers of attorney or other execution authority. Provide the completed bond through the City's confirmed registration process; it does not replace any separate permit deposit or authorize work by itself.

Sources

Have these ready

  1. Before application: use the updated packet and confirm the actual specialty.
  2. Before issuance: match principal, City obligee, minimum $25,000 and accepted year/code entries.
  3. After issuance: check both signatures and required execution-authority attachments.
  4. For registration: provide separate liability, tax and applicable credential evidence through the City process.

Questions about this bond

Can I rely on the older application with no surety item?

The updated packet and adopted change effective January 1, 2025 require a minimum $25,000 surety. The older February 2008 application does not reflect that change.

Does the April 2023 bond revision mean the minimum is older too?

No. The updated packet includes that bond form alongside the later minimum requirement. Match the accepted instrument and current required sum.

Is the City an additional insured on the bond?

The surety instrument names the City as obligee. Additional-insured status is a separate liability-insurance requirement; do not confuse the documents.
