What this bond does
Provide the company security required by 8V.S.A.2903 for the Chapter85 loan servicer license.
- Who needs it
- Companies applying for or maintaining Vermont residential mortgage loan servicer licenses, including relevant offices outside Vermont.
- Who it protects
- The bond runs to the State for its use and the benefit of people with Chapter85 causes of action. It secures statutory and regulatory compliance and money due under that chapter. The published form gives the State the exclusive right to proceed on the bond; it is not a general guarantee of every mortgage investment or borrower loss.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Questions about this bond
Does an office outside Vermont need attention?
Yes. DFR's guidance includes locations outside Vermont that service Vermont residential mortgage loans. Match every relevant office to the licensing request.
Does one company bond automatically cover all branches?
Section2903 permits the Commissioner to accept one bond covering multiple licensed offices. Obtain that acceptance; separate office licensing remains a different requirement.
Can a borrower proceed directly on the published form?
The form benefits the State and qualifying people but expressly gives the State the exclusive right to proceed on it. A borrower complaint should not be presented as an unconditional private bond recovery.
Can depleted security wait until renewal?
No. Section2903 requires a new bond immediately after recovery. Section2907 also requires an additional bond within ten days of the Commissioner's written demand when existing security is deficient.
