What this bond does

Section 54.1-829 conditions promoter security on statutory fees and penalties and professional-contestant contracts. The posted event form names the Commonwealth of Virginia and includes legal compliance and damages caused by misstatement, misrepresentation, fraud or deceit.

Who needs it
The actual licensed promoter responding to the Department's event-security request. The statute exempts the promoter-bond subsection for an amateur-only event under a Director-approved sanctioning organization; that is not a blanket exemption for every amateur event.
Who it protects
The form allows an aggrieved person to proceed against principal, surety or both for covered violations, within the bond penalty. Security does not replace contestant insurance, promoter authorization, event approval or any required matchmaker license.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Calculate event security and check the bond already on file

The posted form uses gate fees if all seats sell plus the amounts due to contestants, subject to its $100,000 ceiling. The wrestling application collects ticket prices and quantities, contestant pay and a combined total, then asks whether the bond on file is sufficient. It directs a supplemental or modified bond where needed; an old filing is not automatically enough for a larger event.

The form requires cancellation notice to the Department, its agent and the principal by personal service or registered mail with return receipt, at least 60 days ahead. It addresses late and differing receipt dates and uses the documented Department receipt date under that clause. Do not substitute a mailing-only 30-day rule; earlier breaches remain subject to the undertaking.

The posted wrestling application calls for submission at least 30 days before the event and prohibits advertising before approval. If the promoter also acts as matchmaker, it calls for a separate matchmaker license. Use the current sport-specific application and deadline rather than applying wrestling instructions indiscriminately to every event.

Purchase Now opens Propeller. Match the actual promoter, Commonwealth obligee, accepted event form, calculated required sum, dates and condition before applying. Complete principal and surety acknowledgements and the surety-authority documentation as directed. Use Call for an increased or different requirement, then complete event licensing and filing separately.

Questions about this bond

Is the bond already on file enough for a bigger event?

The wrestling application specifically compares existing security with the new event total and calls for a supplemental or modified bond when deficient, within the posted ceiling. Obtain current Department directions before relying on the old filing.

Are all amateur events outside the bond requirement?

No. Section 54.1-829(B) identifies an amateur-only event under a Director-approved sanctioning organization. Confirm that exact status rather than assuming every amateur promotion qualifies.

Can I announce the wrestling event while paperwork is pending?

The posted wrestling application says not to announce or advertise before the Department approves it and issues the event license. Purchasing security is not that approval.
