What this bond does

Secures restoration of the identified Bainbridge Island streets, roads or ROW and the city's stated permit and maintenance undertaking.

Who needs it
Contractors and applicants arranging security for permitted construction affecting Bainbridge Island city ROW.
Who it protects
The City of Bainbridge Island is the obligee. The instrument concerns covered ROW repair/restoration and permit conditions, not general performance of every promise in the owner's private contract.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Use the ROW estimate and city file reference

The city's permit page requires the restoration bond for work estimated above $2,000 and sets it at 125% of that estimate. Identify the ROW portion of the work rather than assuming the entire private project value supplies the calculation.

The form identifies the principal's contract with the owner and the city file for the authorized construction. Have Public Works Engineering confirm the principal, required sum and covered permit before using the existing RLI Purchase Now option.

Separate the work period from restoration maintenance

The city's page distinguishes approval from issuance: request issuance within six months of approval, then carry out work/restoration within the stated 30-day period, with one 30-day extension available on request. Confirm the actual issued dates with the city.

The bond separately requires maintaining the restored condition for one year after completion of the principal's contract with the owner. The permit page describes completion notification, inspection and a final inspection one year later; approved final inspection leads to bond exoneration.

File the executed restoration instrument

Arrange principal and surety execution and attach a certified power of attorney if an attorney-in-fact signs for the surety. The form also contains city permit-compliance and indemnity conditions; review the entire undertaking with the provider.

The permit page directs required documents to ROWPermit@BainbridgeWA.gov. Submit through current city instructions, obtain separate permit issuance and traffic approvals, and retain the completion and final-inspection release record.

Sources

Have these ready

  1. Identify contractor/principal, owner contract, city file and affected ROW.
  2. Prepare ROW work estimate, site and traffic plans and separate insurance evidence.
  3. Confirm the city amount and RLI form match; arrange signatures and any certified power of attorney.
  4. Complete filing and permit issuance, then completion notification, maintenance and final inspection.
