Whitehall, OH — Contractor's License Bond

Whitehall's contractor code requires a surety/performance bond of at least $25,000 maintained with registration for one year. The year runs from approval of the application, not an automatic December 31 cutoff.

What this bond does

Support the contractor's registration under Whitehall Chapter 1305 for the actual work category.

Who needs it
Applicants checking general and separately qualified trades, including businesses with multiple City registrations.
Who it protects
The code conditions the security on reimbursement for the stated ordinance violations or omitted duties by the contractor, agents or employees. Its Performance label does not turn it into a separate project payment bond.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Align the security with the approval year and categories

Section 1305.01 says one $25,000 bond is sufficient where the contractor has more than one registration. That does not eliminate the actual registrations or qualifications: the code lists State-licensed trades and a City of Columbus credential for sewer excavators.

Confirm the City's accepted bond form, exact legal principal and dates covering the actual approval year. Keep the separate liability insurance in force as required. The code requires the registrant to give written notice thirty days before cancellation; do not treat a provider payment or renewal receipt as continuous City acceptance.

Purchase Now opens RLI in a new tab. Match category, accepted instrument, sum and approval-period dates before applying. After issuance, check execution and confirmed City filing. The published non-mechanical packet requires a physical original for first-time applicants and allows qualifying renewal continuations; ask for the instructions applicable to your actual category rather than assume every trade uses identical paperwork.

Sources

Have these ready

  3. After issuance: check execution and category-specific original/renewal instructions.
  4. For registration: file through the confirmed process and maintain bond/insurance separately.
