Wisconsin — Cigarette Tax Bond

Wisconsin's A-133 allows only one tax type per surety bond. For a cigarette-tax request, identify that category and the Department of Revenue's assigned security; a tobacco/vapor or sales-tax checkbox is not an interchangeable selection.

What this bond does

A-133 supports the Department's cigarette-tax security demand. The posted guidance requires distributor security before permit issuance and identifies a particular calculation for new cigarette distributors.

Who needs it
Cigarette businesses responding to a Wisconsin Revenue security request, including new distributors. Municipal retail licensing, tobacco/vapor permits and other state tax accounts are separate matters.
Who it protects
A-133 binds the principal and surety jointly and severally to the Wisconsin Department of Revenue. Its condition includes compliance with the indicated statutes and prompt payment of taxes, interest and penalties already due or becoming due. Select the cigarette category rather than assuming the multi-purpose form covers every tax account.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Details for a Wisconsin cigarette-tax A-133

Publication 304's cigarette-distributor table states that new applicants post $10,000 plus three times estimated monthly tax-stamp purchases. That calculation is for the identified distributor role, not a flat sum for every cigarette business. Have Revenue state the accepted amount and account.

The current posted A-133 says only one tax type per bond is allowed. Mark Cigarette for the actual cigarette request; Tobacco/Vapor Products and Sales and Use are distinct boxes. Do not combine them merely because the same company holds several registrations.

If the principal is delinquent, A-133 permits Revenue to recover the taxes, interest and penalties from the surety upon ten days' notice. This is different from the surety's withdrawal clause.

Withdrawal does not take effect until sixty days after Revenue receives written notice. It preserves incurred/accrued liability, including tax incurred before the notice period ends even if assessed later. The model does not supply a fixed annual expiration line; use the accepted filing rather than inventing a renewal or release date.

Complete the legal principal, authorized surety, amount and signed/sealed execution with the witness fields. Page two has the applicable notarized principal acknowledgment for an individual, partnership, corporation or LLC. Submit the cigarette bond to the Excise Tax Unit with the required permit/security material using current instructions.

Purchase Now opens Propeller's Wisconsin cigarette-tax application in a new tab. Match the cigarette account, Revenue request, required amount and accepted dates, then complete filing and permit approval. Provider payment does not issue the permit or pay existing tax, interest or penalties.

Questions about this bond

Can one A-133 cover cigarettes, vapor and sales tax?

The posted form allows only one tax type per bond. Match the cigarette request to its own category and obtain any separately required security for other accounts.

Is the sixty-day period the time to pay a claim?

No. Sixty days after receipt is the surety-withdrawal period. The form separately permits recovery from the surety upon ten days' notice when the principal is delinquent.

Does withdrawal erase tax assessed afterward?

It does not erase covered liability for tax incurred before the withdrawal becomes effective, even if the assessment comes later.
