What this bond does

The town describes security for specified damage claims and repairs in streets, sidewalks and other public places affected by cuts or excavation. The applicant or the entity for which it performs must provide the required security before permit issuance.

Who needs it
The principal or principals named in the Town of Addison's project security instructions. The applicant and party commissioning the work may have different roles; the accepted forms must resolve their legal identities.
Who it protects
The published table lists performance security at 100% of construction cost. Maintenance valuation is $5,000 for construction costs from $1 through $50,000 and 10% above $50,000. These are security valuations, not a substitute for the town-approved project request.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Keep maintenance security through town acceptance

The requirements say the bond must be maintained annually for two years after town acceptance and necessary repairs made during that period. That repair/maintenance obligation should not be confused with a guaranteed two-year provider option or immediate release when excavation ends.

The town says final acceptance is withheld until maintenance security in an acceptable form is furnished. Confirm whether the requested documents are separate or combined, their approved valuations, dates and filing instructions before issuance.

Questions about this bond

Can I use the same amount for performance and maintenance?

Not from the published table alone. It uses 100% of construction cost for performance and a different maintenance schedule. Obtain the town's approved amounts and forms.

Does finishing excavation end the maintenance obligation?

The requirements describe annual maintenance for two years after town acceptance and condition final acceptance on furnishing acceptable maintenance security. Follow the actual town request.

How do I begin the bond application?
