How a fidelity bond works

Fidelity protection responds to covered dishonest acts. The form identifies whose money or property is protected, the covered persons, and the applicable limits.

What this bond does

The bond protects plan assets against covered fraud or dishonesty by people handling the plan's funds or property.

Who needs it
Employers and administrators arranging required bonding for handlers of ERISA-covered plan assets. Exemptions depend on the plan and the people involved.
Who is protected
The insured interest belongs to the plan. This is fidelity protection, separate from fiduciary liability insurance and business liability coverage.

Choose from 2 options

Each option is a separate record. Where a term, bond amount, premium, or E&O limit is known, it is listed; match it to what your requirement asks for.

The coverage amount describes a limit of protection, not the price. Match the requested protection and covered persons to the actual fidelity form. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Confirm the protection you are arranging

Have your plan adviser establish who handles the assets and the amount of bonding required. Authority to direct transfers or disbursements can matter even when someone does not physically hold funds.

Arizona is the catalog association; the ERISA bonding framework is federal. The options show 12 or 36 months, with no stated amount. Select the intended duration and confirm the amount and insured plan in RLI's application.

Questions about this bond

Does choosing one year set my coverage amount?

No. Duration and amount are separate decisions. Use the amount established for your plan when completing the provider's application.

Can an outside administrator need bonding?

A service provider or its employees may need bonding if they handle plan funds or other property, unless an exemption applies.

Will fiduciary liability insurance do the same job?

No. It addresses fiduciary responsibilities and does not satisfy ERISA's fidelity bonding requirement for covered fraud or dishonesty.

Where does Purchase Now take me?

It opens the selected RLI application in a new tab. Applying is separate from issuance; check the issued document and keep it in the plan's records.
