Attleboro, MA — Street Opening Bond

Attleboro's rules effective October 2, 2026 require City Solicitor-approved restoration security of at least $5,000, with the Superintendent assigning sufficient coverage. Continuing security may cover several jobs, but each non-emergency opening still needs its own permit; the bond is not a blanket authorization.

What this bond does

City of Attleboro security for restoration of the actual areas disturbed under its public-way permits.

Who needs it
The actual applicant/permittee company, with property owner, subcontractor and separate utility roles identified.
Who it protects
The accepted performance instrument addresses City-acceptable restoration and covered failure costs, not completion/payment of every private project.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Choose actual permit coverage, not blanket work permission

The current rules apply to City-controlled property, not private ways or Commonwealth-controlled roads. They require a signed permit for each specific non-emergency excavation, even when the applicant files continuing security for multiple permits during a calendar year.

The Superintendent sets sufficient restoration coverage, at least $5,000, and the form must be City Solicitor-approved with a Massachusetts-authorized surety. The combined permit/application packet distinguishes permit-specific from annual blanket security and separately records owner and contractor. Use the actual site's issued conditions; that packet also contains a job-specific requirements sheet, not universal specifications.

Follow current filing and restoration certification

Purchase Now opens Propeller; the option displays no fixed amount or term. Match the City's actual principal/recipient, form, required sum, single/continuing coverage and dates with the issuer. Arrange required execution and accepted filing with insurance and actual location/sketch/Dig Safe documents.

The October 2026 rules call for original applications/documents in person at DPW at least five full working days before work. Confirm current delivery rather than relying on the older address within the combined application. Obtain issued work permission and any separate trench approval; the sixty-day permit/winter limits are not a supplied bond term.

Request actual restoration certification. The rules withhold bond release until twelve months after the Superintendent finds restoration proper and set a one-year guarantee from City acceptance of permanent restoration. Keep the accepted restoration date and obtain actual release, not an automatic purchase-anniversary cancellation.

Questions about this bond

Does continuing security replace individual permits?

No. The rules prohibit generic multi-location non-emergency permits even when continuing performance security is accepted.

Is $5,000 always sufficient?

It is the published minimum. The Superintendent assigns sufficient restoration coverage, including the actual continuing-security capacity.

Does release occur a year after buying?

The rules tie release/guarantee to proper accepted restoration, not purchase. Obtain actual certification, dates and release instructions.
