Binghamton, NY — Single Job Right Of Way Bond

Match this single-job offering to Binghamton's actual street-work request before applying. The City's Engineering Department publishes excavation-security rules that distinguish pavement from non-pavement work and also address excavation counts during a calendar year.

What this bond does

Arrange the accepted right-of-way performance security for a named job. Confirm that Engineering accepts the offered single-job instrument for its requested scope rather than assuming it replaces every security arrangement described on the City's page.

Who needs it
A contractor or other applicant arranging a specific City street-work operation. Prepare the location, operation, dates, pavement disturbance and traffic restrictions; Town, County or State road requests need their own authority's requirements.
Who it protects
The City describes excavation performance security and reviews the bond separately from insurance, traffic maintenance and backfill. The instrument secures its accepted permitted-work obligation, not automatically an entire private construction contract.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Have Engineering assess the work and security

The City's page states $5,000 for an excavation outside pavement and $10,000 for an excavation in pavement. It also describes one-to-ten excavations in a calendar year, additional-excavation security, a 24-month term and a stated annual maximum.

Because the published instructions combine per-excavation and grouped-excavation language, obtain Engineering's assessment and accepted single-job wording. Do not calculate a blanket limit or assume this one-job offering automatically covers later jobs.

Describe the work, not just the bond title

The actual street-work form requests contractor details, exact location, proposed start and completion, and operations in the right-of-way. It separates underground, surface and above-ground work, traffic restrictions, and proposed pavement excavation and backfill.

The form states a minimum 72-hour notice, including for crane work. That notice is not an approval-time guarantee. Engineering separately checks insurance, performance security, traffic plans, backfill and any overlay or additional restrictions.

Use the provider application after the form is matched

Confirm the principal, accepted single-job instrument, assessed amount, dates and filing requirements before continuing through Propeller. Deliver the executed bond as Engineering directs.

Obtain the approved street-work permit and follow any applicable utility-notification, traffic, inspection and restoration conditions. The City's separate curb/sidewalk assistance programme does not replace the permit or establish this offered bond's terms.

Sources

Have these ready

  1. Confirm City jurisdiction, the named job and the applicant/contractor.
  2. Document pavement disturbance and any other excavations relevant to Engineering's assessment.
  3. Obtain accepted single-job wording, amount, term, principal and filing instructions.
  4. Prepare the street-work form, traffic/backfill details, insurance and advance coordination.

Questions about this bond

Does single job mean later excavations are also covered?

Do not assume so. The City publishes grouped-excavation provisions, but this offering is labeled single job. Have Engineering confirm the exact instrument and scope.

Can I choose the amount from the job address alone?

No. The City's published security distinguishes work in pavement from work outside it and includes excavation-count provisions. Obtain Engineering's assessed requirement.

Will the permit be approved in 72 hours?

The form states a minimum notice period, not a guaranteed review time. Bond issuance also does not replace Engineering's separate approval of the work application.
