Blue Ash, OH — Work In Right Of Way (Blanket - ) Bond

Blue Ash offers a $10,000 renewable blanket right-of-way bond for contractors expecting several jobs during the construction season. It addresses repeated work security, not a blanket permit: each job or area still needs its own City work permit.

What this bond does

Arrange the blanket security described by Blue Ash for a contractor's several right-of-way jobs, with the covered period confirmed before issuance.

Who needs it
Contractors planning several Blue Ash right-of-way jobs who have confirmed that the City's blanket bonding arrangement fits their work.
Who it protects
The blanket instrument supports the City's work requirements across the accepted scope. Each permit still places excavation, replacement and restoration duties on the applicant; the bond is not permission to begin every future job.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Choose blanket security for repeated work

The City's published $10,000 blanket option is renewable and intended for contractors doing several jobs throughout the construction season. Its other categories are $5,000 for downtown or designated main arterials and $3,000 for other City streets. Discuss the planned jobs with Public Works before choosing the blanket arrangement.

Utility-company bonding is determined case by case. Do not assume that a contractor blanket bond automatically replaces a utility company's requirement or any separate facility-occupancy security.

Keep a permit record for every job

Blue Ash requires a separate signed right-of-way work application and work plan or sketch for each job or area. The blanket bond does not approve additional locations, changes in facilities or traffic arrangements by itself.

For excavation, arrange the Engineering Technician's inspection at least 24 hours before backfilling. Restore the area immediately after excavation and by the permit termination date. The permit's repair workmanship and materials warranty runs for one year from completion.

Confirm the blanket period and its continuation

The City describes an umbrella bond term ending on the last day of the following year, alongside its single-work guidance of one year from estimated completion. Obtain the exact dates and continuation requirements for your blanket instrument rather than assuming it starts January 1 or lasts twelve months from purchase.

Use the existing Propeller application after confirming the City requirement. Check and file the issued bond as directed, then obtain the individual work permits. Renewal of security and approval of another job remain separate matters.

Have these ready

  1. Describe the expected Blue Ash jobs and ask Public Works to confirm the $10,000 blanket arrangement.
  2. Obtain the accepted wording, legal principal and exact blanket start/end dates.
  3. Prepare a separate work application and plan or sketch for each job or area.
  4. Confirm renewal and filing requirements, and track each job's inspections and restoration acceptance.

Questions about this bond

Does blanket mean I can work anywhere without another permit?

No. Blue Ash expressly requires a separate right-of-way work permit for each job or area, even when the contractor supplies blanket bonding.

Is the blanket sum the same as the other-streets sum?

No. The City lists $10,000 for its renewable blanket bond and $3,000 for the other-streets category. Have Public Works confirm which arrangement fits your planned work.

Does the blanket term always run January through December?

Do not assume that. Published guidance refers to an umbrella ending on the last day of the following year. Confirm the actual dates and continuation instructions with the City.

Does renewal satisfy restoration requirements?

No. Each permit carries work, inspection and restoration duties. Renewing the bond does not establish that the City has accepted repairs or released a particular permit.
