What this bond does

A bail agent acts on behalf of a surety insurer under Insurance Code Section 1802. LIC 437-9 binds the principal and admitted surety to the People of the State of California for accounting and proper application/disposal of money received under the described agent authority.

Who needs it
The actual individual or corporate agent applicant identified in CDI's request. CDI has separate individual and corporate filing instructions; neither the bond nor the general agent title establishes a surety appointment or all individual qualifications.
Who it protects
The condition reaches money collected or received by the principal or its agents, solicitors or employees in covered bail-agent business. Aggregate surety liability is $1,000. This is not the amount of bail for a defendant, general recovery-agent authority or a guarantee of every unrelated business loss.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Match the agent request and check existing permittee security

CDI lists LIC 437-9 with its agent application and separately requires the surety insurer's Bail Agent Action Notice, LIC 437-23. For an individual applying jointly as agent and permittee, or a licensed permittee adding an agent license, CDI's permittee instructions describe using the permittee bond instead. Confirm that situation before ordering duplicate security.

The posted agent bond cannot take effect before execution; an omitted effective date defaults to the later execution date. It continues until cancellation or acceptance and filing of a new bond. Its thirty-day surety notice to the Commissioner and replacement clauses preserve earlier liability. The two-year license cycle is not a selected bond term.

Purchase Now opens Propeller for this agent offering. Match the actual principal, currently accepted LIC 437-9, People obligee, required sum and dates, then complete CDI's filing and appointment requirements. Use Call first if the request instead concerns a permittee, solicitor or existing bond.

Questions about this bond

Do I always need another $1,000 bond if I hold a permittee license?

CDI's permittee page says the permittee bond on file covers both licenses when a licensed permittee applies for an agent license, and only the permittee bond is needed for the described joint individual application. Confirm the actual filing before ordering.

Is the licensing bond my appointment by a bail insurer?

No. CDI separately lists the insurer's LIC 437-23 Action Notice and active appointment requirements. Buying the bond does not authorize acting for an insurer.

Does renewal create another $1,000 limit?

The posted bond has an aggregate limit and continuing cancellation/replacement provisions. Do not infer a new separate limit from the license renewal cycle or every transaction.
