What this bond does

Under the role described in Section 1803, a solicitor transacts bail as an employee of a bail license holder. LIC 437-11 binds the solicitor and admitted surety to the People of the State of California, with the employing agent or permittee identified on the form.

Who needs it
The individual solicitor applying for, or holding, the relevant license and employment arrangement. CDI lists an individual entity type and the employer's LIC 438 Action Notice; this is not a corporation's agency bond or an insurer appointment for an independent agent.
Who it protects
The posted condition requires proper application/disposal of collected money and that the principal not cause loss or damage through the described Chapter 7 bail business. All claims share the $1,000 aggregate limit. It does not guarantee a defendant's appearance or establish the solicitor's right to work without a license.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Identify the employer as well as the solicitor

Complete the individual principal and employing bail agent/permittee entries consistently with the license request. CDI requires an employer's LIC 438 Action Notice; its page says a corporation may not employ a solicitor. Where the described partnership arrangement has multiple employing licensees, CDI calls for a separate Action Notice from each. Do not assume an agency name alone resolves the employment filing.

The bond cannot take effect before execution and defaults to the later execution date if no effective date is entered. It continues until cancellation or acceptance and filing of a replacement; the thirty-day surety notice to the Commissioner and replacement provisions preserve earlier liability. The license's two-year cycle is separate.

Questions about this bond

Can I leave the employing licensee unidentified?

The posted form identifies the employer both above the bond and in the licensed-employment condition. Match those entries and the required employer Action Notice to the actual request.

Is a corporate bail agency automatically an eligible employer?

No. CDI's solicitor instructions say a corporation may not employ a bail solicitor or permittee. Clarify the actual licensed-employment arrangement rather than relying on an agency's business name.

Does replacing the bond erase an earlier loss?

The form expressly preserves liability incurred or accrued before the applicable replacement or cancellation cutoff. A new filed bond does not itself release the earlier liability.
