California — Cannabis Distributor And Retailer License Bond

Identify the actual DCC distribution and retail licenses covered by your application. California distinguishes full distribution, transport-only distribution, delivery-only retail and storefront retail. This listing's combined wording does not create a combined State license or authorize every activity.

What this bond does

Provide the State's commercial cannabis security for the identified distribution or retail licensee and covered premises, using DCC's accepted undertaking and required coverage.

Who needs it
Distribution and retail applicants or licensees matching their actual business activities, license numbers and premises to a DCC bond request. Confirm each licensed role rather than relying on the catalog's combined title.
Who it protects
The DCC-selected bond names the State of California and addresses violation-related cannabis destruction, MAUCRSA compliance and amounts due to the State under its condition. It does not independently guarantee a customer's delivery or refund.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Details for distribution and retail activities

DCC's Type 11 distributor guide includes moving finished goods to retail premises, storage and arranging testing. Its Type 13 transport-only category lists movement between cultivation, manufacturing and distribution premises. Match the actual transportation authority instead of treating both types as permission for every delivery.

Type 9 retail is delivery-only. Type 10 has a storefront and can also deliver. DCC states that performing more than one activity may require more than one license. A bond schedule covering licenses does not itself grant those licenses or create a new combined distribution-and-retail class.

DCC requires at least $5,000 for each licensed premises and allows aggregation for multiple licenses held by the same business. Match the legal applicant, trade names, actual license schedule and sites; do not assume one $5,000 figure covers every location. The State undertaking is separate from any specific local permit security.

The selected form runs from receipt of the license through renewals, subject to cancellation, and has an aggregate limit that does not reset annually. Cancellation requires 30 days' written notice delivered to DCC and the principal, preserving earlier covered liability. DCC's change instructions use Form 27 and the changed or new bond copy with Form 8113.

Questions about this bond

Does the combined title grant distribution and retail authority?

No. DCC issues licenses for the actual activities. Its distribution and retail categories have different permissions, and more than one activity may require more than one license. Match the licenses and covered premises rather than treating a bond application as licensing approval.

Can Type 13 be treated like full Type 11 distribution?

DCC's guide lists Type 13 for transport between cultivation, manufacturing and distribution premises. The Type 11 list also includes finished goods to retail, storage and arranging testing. Confirm the actual licensed work before preparing the bond schedule.
