California — Cannabis Manufacturing License Bond

Start with your actual California manufacturing license and permitted processes. DCC distinguishes extraction, infusion, packaging and shared-use manufacturing. The commercial cannabis bond supports the licensed business's State obligation; it does not expand its manufacturing authority.

What this bond does

Provide the State's commercial cannabis security for the manufacturer and covered premises, including violation-related destruction costs and the compliance duties in the accepted DCC undertaking.

Who needs it
Manufacturing applicants and licensees matching actual Type 7, 6, N, P or S activities and premises to DCC's bond request. Identify the legal operator, including a separate business working in a shared-use facility.
Who it protects
DCC's selected form names the State of California and addresses violation-required cannabis destruction, MAUCRSA compliance and money due under the undertaking. It is not a private purchaser's product warranty or a grant of permission to use an extraction method.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Details for manufacturing methods and shared premises

DCC bases manufacturing classes on the work performed, extraction or post-processing chemicals and whether the business uses a shared facility. Type 7 includes volatile-solvent work; Type 6 concerns non-volatile or mechanical extraction. Type N covers infusion and packaging or labeling, while Type P is limited to packaging and labeling. Match the actual authorized processes.

Type S applies to manufacturers in shared-use facilities and has its own permitted methods. A qualifying Type 7, 6 or N license can register manufacturing premises for shared use. Sharing space or equipment does not by itself establish that the host's bond covers a separate tenant business.

DCC's Form 8113 instructions require at least $5,000 for each licensed premises and allow aggregation for multiple licenses of the same business. Match the legal manufacturer, trade names, sites and complete license schedule. That permission is not automatic coverage for every business at one facility or every property under one $5,000 sum.

The selected form runs from receipt of the license through renewals, subject to cancellation, with an aggregate limit that does not reset annually. It requires 30 days' written cancellation notice delivered to DCC and the principal, preserving earlier covered liability. DCC directs changes through Form 27 and the changed or new bond copy with Form 8113. Bond issuance does not approve a manufacturing process or replace required permits.

  4. Confirm signing authority, license receipt, renewal continuity and cancellation requirements.
  5. Submit required evidence and change materials through DCC's current instructions.

Questions about this bond

Does a Type P manufacturer gain extraction authority by buying a bond?

No. DCC describes Type P as packaging and labeling only. The actual manufacturing license controls the permitted work; a bond does not add extraction or infusion authority.

Does a shared-use facility's bond automatically cover my business?

Do not assume so. DCC allows aggregation for licenses of the same business. Identify your actual legal operator and Type S or other license, then have the covered business, premises and license schedule matched to the accepted undertaking.
