What this bond does

Prepare the surety attachment identified in the City of Chicago Heights contractor-registration application.

Who needs it
Chicago Heights contractor registrants with the City's accepted surety request, including applicants selecting the actual subcontractor or landscaping category.
Who it protects
The accepted instrument supplies its secured conditions and recipient. The application separately conditions registration on City-ordinance compliance; that declaration is not the bond's claims wording or liability insurance.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Match company, owner and activities

The City form separates company from owner information and asks for a business street address, not a P.O. box. It lets applicants indicate the applicable General, plumbing, HVAC, roofing, electrical, other-subcontractor and landscaping categories. Use the actual business identity and work, not just the submitting person's name.

Landscapers identify activities such as grass cutting, tree work and masonry and have additional listed registration documents. Other trades have their own credential rows. These are City application items, not invented documents that every surety applicant must already possess.

Finish the City submission after issuance

Have the City's accepted $10,000 instrument, principal, recipient and dates ready before selecting Purchase Now, which opens Propeller in a new tab. The existing option displays no duration; the new/renewal checkboxes on the registration application do not supply a bond term.

After issuance, check the actual form and deliver it to Code Enforcement as directed with the separate registration materials. The application expressly says building permits must be obtained before work starts; checkout does not provide a City permit.

Sources

Have these ready

  1. Confirm the applicable City contractor and activity categories.
  2. Match the business identity separately from owner/applicant information.
  3. Have the accepted $10,000 form, recipient and actual dates.
  4. Prepare City credentials and insurance separately from surety prompts.
  5. Check issued security and registration delivery before assuming permit approval.

Questions about this bond

Is the company name the same field as the owner?

The form separates them. Match the accepted legal principal to the actual business and request, not automatically the individual completing the application.

Do landscapers use the same category information?

They have a separate activity checklist and listed registration documents. Identify the actual work and current City request before buying a broadly named contractor bond.

Does registering or buying surety supply a building permit?

No. The City application says to obtain building permits before starting work. Those approvals remain distinct from issued surety and registration.
