Douglas, MI — Right Of Way Bond

Douglas's selected ROW application calls for a $5,000 performance bond or letter of credit, increased to $10,000 for multiple bores or cuts. Match the actual work and name the City of the Village of Douglas—not a Douglas County—as the requesting municipality.

What this bond does

City of the Village of Douglas, Michigan security for the approved ROW work and required public-way restoration.

Who needs it
The applicant/company responsible for the identified road cut, bore, driveway, sidewalk or other City ROW activity.
Who it protects
The accepted instrument concerns the permitted work, safe traffic arrangements and repair/restoration duties. It is not blanket permission for unrelated projects.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Identify multiple cuts and the required supporting plans

The current forms index selects the ROW/Road Cut-Bore/Driveway application. Its checklist calls for $5,000 performance security or a letter of credit, with $10,000 for multiple bores/cuts, plus a separate insurance certificate naming the City of the Village of Douglas as additional insured.

Complete the project location, work description, proposed dates and closure type—shoulder, one lane or complete closure. Include the required site and traffic-control plans and MISS DIG coordination. A driveway also has separate Saugatuck Township Fire District review; the City ROW permit does not replace that review.

Obtain City permission and notify Public Works

Purchase Now opens Propeller. The option displays no fixed amount or term. Have the City confirm the accepted instrument, form/parties, applicable sum and dates, then arrange issuer execution and City-accepted filing with the application. The bond or letter of credit is not the separate liability certificate.

Obtain the actual ROW permit before performing work. The selected application calls for DPW notice 24 hours before starting and notice when the work is complete. Its start/finish fields describe the proposed work period, not a supplied bond term.

Follow the approved traffic, road-repair and damage-restoration requirements, then ask the City for the actual inspection and security-release procedure. Do not infer bond cancellation or refund rules from the application's general no-refunds statement.

Questions about this bond

When does the application call for $10,000 security?

Its checklist specifies $10,000 for multiple bores or cuts, instead of the listed $5,000. Confirm how the City classifies your actual work before issuance.

Does the ROW bond replace the insurance certificate?

No. The selected checklist separately requires insurance naming the City of the Village of Douglas as additional insured.

Is the City ROW permit the only driveway review?

The application also identifies Saugatuck Township Fire District review/approval for City driveways. Coordinate both rather than assuming bond purchase completes either process.
