What this bond does

Security requested for the general contractor/owner's actual highway work within DuPage County Division of Transportation jurisdiction.

Who needs it
The contractor or owner required to furnish County highway-permit security, coordinated with the project owner and authorized applicant.
Who it protects
The current procedure describes performance security for the County-ROW work. The accepted surety instrument defines its duties; a bank letter of credit is a different instrument.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Have the County approve the ROW-work calculation

The online procedure uses an engineer's probable cost estimate or contractor quantities for 110% of work within County ROW, with $1,500 single-family residential and $2,500 commercial minimums. Submit the estimate for County confirmation before furnishing security. Identify the actual County highway or trail, work limits, record number and project class; the legacy URL does not make this a general contractor-license bond.

Confirm the surety form and request final inspection

The current online procedure expressly lists a surety bond on the County's form. An older linked requirements PDF instead lists other security and includes a sample letter of credit; its two-year expiry and notice terms are not surety-bond terms. Obtain the current accepted surety form and required dates before Purchase Now opens RLI. The provider option displays no fixed amount or term. Verify issuance, accepted security and permit authorization. At completion, the procedure calls for a Final Inspection and Bond Release Request; it excludes final inspections between November 30 and April 30, so allow for that closeout restriction.

No. A bank letter of credit is a different security instrument. Obtain the County's current surety form and dates.

Is completion alone enough to finish the release process?

The County calls for a Final Inspection and Bond Release Request after completion/restoration. Its procedure excludes final inspections from November 30 through April 30.
