Grand Haven, MI — Right Of Way Permit Bond

Grand Haven's selected ROW permit requires at least $5,000 bond or cash security with DPW, plus any additional exposure amount assigned by its Director. Identify who will restore the work and use the City's accepted permit-security form—not an unrelated construction-contract guarantee.

What this bond does

City of Grand Haven, Michigan security for the actual ROW permit obligations and protection/restoration of affected public installations.

Who needs it
The applicant/contractor responsible for the identified City public-way activity, with all working subcontractors and the restoration party identified.
Who it protects
The accepted local permit instrument governs its stated duties. The City's published licence/permit example is not presented as an unrelated contract performance, maintenance or payment bond.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Identify the restoration party and actual security

The application asks whether restoration will be performed by the applicant or the City and records the affected surfaces. Confirm that assignment rather than assuming the City restores everything. The permit requirements set at least $5,000 security and allow the DPW Director to require more for exposure to public installations within or adjacent to the work.

The City's current Public Works forms section links a licence/permit bond and insurance example. The example names the City and separates bond from liability coverage, but its dated power of attorney and example insurance periods are not your current documents. Have DPW and the issuer confirm the accepted form, work classification, principal, actual amount, coverage and dates.

Obtain DPW approval before mobilization and final materials

Purchase Now opens Propeller. The option displays no fixed amount or term. Arrange the required execution and City-accepted filing, current insurance and actual permit signed by the DPW Director. The linked example's continuation and notice language does not establish an annually supplied term or automatic restoration release.

Submit detailed work and traffic plans, including pedestrian/bicycle effects and closure duration. The packet requires advance mobilization notice—seven days unless the City grants the emergency arrangement—and 24-hour notice before final concrete, asphalt or permanent installation, with preparation inspected before final materials.

Permanent above-ground installations have additional Planner/DPW review and supporting need/alternative information. Obtain the permissions for your actual activity, complete the assigned restoration and ask DPW for inspection and security-release directions. Issued security does not replace that permit decision.

Questions about this bond

Is the listed $5,000 always the final security amount?

No. The permit sets a minimum and allows the DPW Director to require an additional amount for public-installation exposure. Obtain the actual assignment.

Does the City always perform restoration?

The application asks you to identify applicant or City restoration. Confirm the actual arrangement and affected surfaces with DPW.

May I use the example's old insurance or authority dates?

No. It is an example, not evidence of your current coverage or issuer authority. Arrange the actual accepted executed bond and current insurance, with DPW approval.
