What this bond does

Secure replacement of the affected Town highway, sidewalk, pavement, curb or gutter, or payment of the Town's restoration expense under its right-of-way permit rules.

Who needs it
Applicants arranging a Town highway or sidewalk disturbance, including curb/apron, sidewalk, water or sewer connection work. The Town application identifies homeowner and contractor separately and asks for the actual work location.
Who it protects
The Town describes restoration security with obligations extending through the year following satisfactory project completion. It is not a general business-license bond or proof that County sewer or other required approvals have been obtained.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Use the Town's right-of-way programme

The Town requires its Commissioner of Highways' permit for highway or sidewalk excavation and identifies a $5,000 performance bond. Its published application separates curb/apron, sidewalk, curb, water and sewer work and provides for other described activities.

Confirm whether the affected road belongs to the Town. Do not substitute the Village's $2,000 street-opening arrangement simply because both addresses say Hempstead. The Town form separately records a Nassau County sewer permit number where applicable.

Separate the 60-day work period from restoration security

The Highway Department states that work must commence and be satisfactorily restored within 60 days unless extended in writing. Its bond requirement separately addresses restoration or Town expenses within one year following satisfactory completion.

The one-year provision is not a verified term starting on purchase, and the work deadline is not automatic release. Ask the Department to confirm the accepted wording, dates, inspection and satisfaction requirements for the job.

Prepare the bond and separate permit material

Provide the work description, sketch or site plan, location, homeowner and contractor details, and requested form. Once the principal, $5,000 instrument and dates match the Town's instructions, continue through Propeller and file the executed bond as directed.

Insurance and the Highway Department's permit approval remain separate. A road closure also needs prior written notice and approval. Obtain the work authorization and maintain the required protection and restoration arrangements; the bond does not issue those approvals.

Questions about this bond

Is this the Village of Hempstead's street-opening requirement?

No. The Town publishes its own right-of-way programme and $5,000 performance security. Match the requesting authority and accepted instrument before ordering.

Does the bond end 60 days after issuance?

The 60-day statement concerns commencement and satisfactory restoration unless extended in writing. The Town separately describes security obligations following satisfactory completion; confirm the accepted bond's actual dates and release.

Does the bond authorize a road closure or County sewer work?

No. The Town separately requires closure approval, and the application asks for a Nassau County sewer permit where applicable. Obtain the approvals required for the specific activity.
