Holyoke, MA — Encroachment Permit Bond

Ask Holyoke DPW whether the request concerns occupying/obstructing the public way or opening it, and obtain the actual encroachment security form. The City treats street occupancy, road opening and trench permission separately; an occupancy permit's thirty-day condition is not this option's bond term.

What this bond does

Match the City of Holyoke's actual encroachment/public-way security request to its accepted instrument and work permission.

Who needs it
The City-required legal applicant/principal for the occupation or opening, with property/business owner and contractor roles clarified.
Who it protects
The accepted form must define the City's covered public-way obligations. The Board's restoration-security authority and the permit holder's separate claims/indemnity duties do not establish unlimited surety insurance.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Identify occupation versus digging

Holyoke's current DPW page describes occupancy for sidewalk sales, events, signs and projections onto/over public space, and road-opening permission for utility excavations. A trench permit may also be needed. Bring the actual site, dimensions, operation and requested dates.

The Board of Public Works page says it may require satisfactory restoration security before authorized street/sidewalk digging. The actual Occupy or Obstruct application separately addresses pedestrian access, required traffic/police protection, claims responsibility and restoration for deviations. It does not establish an exact encroachment surety form or sum for every use.

Match the City's request and keep approvals separate

Purchase Now opens Propeller; the option displays no fixed amount or term. Obtain DPW's actual instrument, legal City recipient/principal, assigned sum, permit/use coverage and dates and match them with the issuer. Do not treat the separate Storm Water Authority offering as automatically interchangeable.

Arrange required execution and accepted filing with DPW's assigned application, insurance and traffic/access documents, then obtain the actual permission. The published occupancy application is valid thirty days from issuance unless it specifies otherwise and requires a site copy; that is not a universal duration for every encroachment bond.

Keep issued conditions, any separate opening/trench approval and the actual inspection/restoration acceptance and continuation/release instructions. Document delivery, an event ending or an issuer anniversary does not establish discharge.

Questions about this bond

Is opening the roadway the same as occupying it?

DPW lists those separately and says trench permission may also be necessary. Match the actual operation and security request.

Is every bond valid for thirty days?

That is a condition of the published occupancy application unless otherwise specified. This option supplies no fixed bond amount or term.

Can the Storm Water Authority form automatically replace City security?

No such equivalence is verified. Obtain the actual required recipient, instrument and work coverage.
