Indiana — DOT Single Highway Permit - Broadband Bond

Prepare INDOT broadband security for the actual single permit, fiber owner and installation route. The linked Broadband Guidelines base performance security on installation extent and ROW project cost; their separate $500,000 blanket minimum is not the amount automatically assigned to this offering.

What this bond does

Single-permit State ROW security for the named applicant's actual INDOT Broadband Access installation.

Who needs it
The broadband company identified by INDOT's request; its linked guidance places surety in the fiber-owning company's name and identifies an installing subcontractor separately.
Who it protects
The current single-permit performance form secures the permitted duties and lawful contractor/vendor/labor claims associated with that permit. Its aggregate liability has a specified court-cost/attorney-fee exception; it is not a guarantee of every private installation contract.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Match the owner and actual route security

The Broadband Guidelines currently linked by INDOT, updated August 2018, require the surety in the fiber-owning company's name. Describe the underground and aerial portions, installation quantities and route; list the contractor/subcontractor separately rather than automatically making it principal. Confirm any corridor agreement the actual location requires.

The guide compares installation extent and construction costs within INDOT ROW for performance security. Its surety table has different overhead/underground length bands starting at $10,000 and requires the greater applicable project-cost amount. Obtain INDOT's assigned sum for the actual route, especially mixed or longer installations; neither a blanket minimum nor the starting figure establishes every single permit's amount.

Use the single-permit form and district filing route

The current Performance Bond is expressly for single-permit use and includes the Broadband Access checkbox. It names the principal/permit applicant and State of Indiana and requires all three pages, notarized principal/surety signatures and surety power of attorney. Match the actual permit and accepted amount/date rather than using the separate blanket form.

Purchase Now opens Propeller; the option displays no fixed amount or term. Current INDOT resources require an EPS PDF plus original signed/notarized documents, with single-permit performance originals sent to the district where work will occur—not the central blanket filing route. Confirm the actual delivery arrangements even though this offering has no MAIL label.

Under the form, effectiveness is the later of the stated date and INDOT acceptance/EPS entry; it continues until State release. Keep issuance, State filing/acceptance, actual Broadband Access permission and project completion/release separate. Use the published district release-request process rather than assuming a construction finish date cancels security.

Questions about this bond

Is $10,000 automatically enough for every broadband permit?

No. The currently linked 2018 guide uses different installation-length bands and compares construction costs within State ROW. Obtain INDOT's amount for the actual route rather than treating a starting band as every project's sum.

Should I send a single-permit original to the blanket-bond address?

Current INDOT resources direct performance-bond originals and release requests to the district where work occurs. Blanket bonds use a separate central-office route.

Does issuance mean I can start laying fiber?

No. The form requires State acceptance/EPS entry for effectiveness, and the actual Broadband Access permit and any applicable corridor permission remain separate.
