Kent County, MI — Road Commission Permit Bond

Start with the Kent County Road Commission permit category. General/utility ROW work, commercial entrances and seasonal transportation have different applications and security arrangements. A matching amount alone does not make a City of Kentwood form a County Road Commission bond.

What this bond does

County of Kent and Board of Kent County Road Commissioners, Michigan security for the particular county-road permit and accepted work/restoration obligations.

Who needs it
The owner/applicant and actual contractor for the specified Commission permit, with the required security provider and named principal confirmed for that category.
Who it protects
The accepted bond concerns the described county permit work and public-way protection/restoration. It is not permission for undescribed work or a guarantee of every private construction obligation.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Use the security rules for the actual permit category

The selected general/utility highway application requires detailed plans, owner/applicant and contractor information and a description of the authorized work. It expressly requires another approved written application for additional work, including additional facilities or lines.

The separately selected commercial-driveway/private-street packet requires the owner to arrange security: $20,000 for the first driveway plus $10,000 for each additional driveway, with required public-road improvement cost plus 20% contingency added where applicable. These are commercial-entrance rules, not a universal amount for utilities or seasonal hauling. The packet says utility applications and their security are determined separately.

That packet distinguishes who provides security from who may be principal: its instructions allow owner or contractor as principal. Have the Permits Department confirm the actual parties rather than assuming owner-funded security requires an owner-only signature.

Arrange accepted originals and the correct filing route

For commercial-entrance performance security, the packet requires the Commission form, original principal/surety signatures, required copies and surety power of attorney. Its one-year work deadline and LOC minimum/automatic-renewal condition do not establish a supplied one-year bond term.

Purchase Now opens Propeller. The option displays no fixed amount or term. Obtain the category-specific form, County/Board recipient, assigned sum, work coverage and dates, match them with the issuer, and arrange execution and accepted filing before actual permit approval.

The current page reserves Oxcart for transportation and directs seasonal-move checks/bonds to the Permits Department, outside online payment. Follow the actual ROW/category instructions instead of assuming every security travels through Oxcart.

For commercial entrances, arrange required start notice and form inspection before concrete, then completion notice within seven days for final inspection and appropriate release. Obtain the Department's termination record and forward the released copy as instructed; completed paving alone does not release the instrument.

Questions about this bond

Do the commercial driveway amounts apply to all utilities?

No. The selected commercial packet expressly separates utility applications and assigned security. Ask the Permits Department for the actual category requirement.

Must the owner always be the named principal?

The commercial packet requires the owner to arrange security but allows owner or contractor as principal in its bond instructions. Confirm the actual accepted parties and execution.

Is a Kentwood bond interchangeable because it has the same sum?

No. Match the County/Board recipient and Commission form to the written request. A City of Kentwood instrument identifies a different requesting authority.
