Kentwood, MI — Highway Permit Bond

Kentwood Engineering lists both an annual $10,000 highway-permit bond and a $20,000 permit-specific form. Confirm which instrument the City requires and how this RLI option matches it before buying. The two City forms are not two fixed choices supplied by this listing.

What this bond does

City of Kentwood, Michigan security for the highway/ROW permission and particular instrument the City accepts.

Who needs it
The actual contractor responsible for City ROW work or the permit applicant for the covered construction/movement request, as accepted by Engineering.
Who it protects
The selected City forms address safe permitted operations, public-way restoration and permit-related City obligations; neither grants all future work permission.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Distinguish the calendar-year form from the permit form

The selected annual Bond for Highway Permits is $10,000 and covers City-granted construction and oversized-movement permits during the stated year ending December31. It expressly requires an attached surety power of attorney. That year-end field does not mean twelve months from purchase.

The separately selected $20,000 form accompanies a permit application and contains City-use notice-of-permit-issuance and termination-of-liability blocks. It does not establish an annual term. Ask Engineering which form, principal, activity, sum and dates are required and whether the issuer's instrument is accepted for that request.

Both forms name the City of Kentwood. Do not substitute Kent County Road Commission's instrument because the geography or amount resembles it.

File the original bond and separate insurance with Engineering

The current Engineering page requires the original bond on file in its office with a copy of the Certificate of Insurance, along with the application and other permit requirements. Security filing and actual ROW permit issuance are different steps; a generic contractor-registration document does not establish either.

Purchase Now opens RLI. The option displays no fixed amount or term. Once Engineering confirms the required instrument and option match, arrange actual issuer execution, required authority/POA and original City filing, and obtain the actual permit before operations.

Complete the permitted restoration and obtain the City's actual acceptance/termination instruction. Do not use the annual form's calendar boundary or the permit form's blank termination area as permission to declare liability ended yourself.

Questions about this bond

Does the annual City form run twelve months from checkout?

It uses a stated year ending December31. This option itself displays no fixed term; confirm the actual required dates and issuer instrument before buying.

Can I pick either published form without Engineering approval?

Do not assume they are interchangeable. The annual and permit-specific forms have different amounts and coverage wording. Confirm which the City requires and whether this RLI option matches.

Does an insurance certificate replace the bond original?

No. The current Engineering page requires the original bond on file and a separate copy of the Certificate of Insurance.
