Lake Zurich, IL — Contractor License Bond

What this bond does

Supply the signed surety document in Lake Zurich's construction-contractor registration checklist when that checklist applies to your trade.

Who needs it
Construction contractors and subcontractors registering with the Village, including firms working on accessory structures; the published plumbing instructions require clarification.
Who it protects
The Village is the stated bond recipient. Registration paperwork, trade credentials and project permits have separate roles; the bond does not replace a permit or certify that work has been approved.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Use the checklist for your actual work

The registration page and first page of the linked January 2026 form ask for a $10,000 bond to the Village of Lake Zurich, with the bond signed. Electrical, roofing and irrigation applicants also have their own credential requirements.

Plumbing instructions are inconsistent: the registration page and first form page list state registrations 055 and 058 plus a permit-specific letter of intent, alongside the general bond requirement. The form's second page instead says plumbers need only their 055 license and registration form. Obtain the department's applicable plumbing instructions before completing a bond purchase.

Send the issued bond with registration

Have your business identity, trade and Village bond request ready. Purchase Now opens Propeller in a new tab. Check the issued document for the required $10,000 sum, Village recipient, dates and signatures before submitting it.

The Village permits registration forms and signed bonds to be emailed to Permits@LakeZurich.org. That submission is separate from the provider application. Registration is required before work; a bond purchase alone does not complete registration or a project permit.

Sources

Have these ready

  4. After issuance, check execution and send the signed bond with the registration documents.

Questions about this bond

Can the signed bond be emailed?

Yes. The Village expressly accepts registration forms and signed bonds by email at Permits@LakeZurich.org. Complete the provider application and obtain the issued document before that separate submission.

Does the Village clearly exempt plumbers from this bond?

Its published instructions do not agree. The general checklist asks for a bond, while the second page of the linked form says plumbers need only their 055 license and registration form. Confirm the applicable requirement with the department before purchasing for plumbing work.

Does this registration bond cover every right-of-way requirement?

Do not assume it does. The January 2026 form separately calls for IDOT prequalification or certification for work in or affecting the right-of-way. That credential requirement is not another amount or term choice for this bond.
