What this bond does

The current city requirements page and ROW registration packet call for a $25,000 Performance Excavation Bond. They establish the registration/security context, but do not reproduce the full surety undertaking or its cancellation/release conditions.

Who needs it
The ROW contracting business required to provide security to the City of Laredo. The application distinguishes the business/owner, authorized permit representative and after-hours contact; identify the actual legal bond principal and signers rather than using a contact name.
Who it protects
The bond is separate from liability/auto coverage, workers' compensation and work-zone traffic-control training. An insurance certificate naming the city is not the surety instrument, and buying the bond does not itself register the contractor or issue a ROW permit.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Complete registration, then obtain the work permit

The city separates ROW contractor registration from general-contractor and other trade categories. Its ROW application records business type, authorized representatives and safety certification; the requirements packet also lists supporting insurance and training evidence.

The city's separate ROW-permit instructions say the permit must be obtained by a registered contractor. Confirm accepted bond wording, recipient, sum and expiration/effective dates for the registration request. A blank expiration field does not establish a universal annual term or provider turnaround time.

Sources

Have these ready

  1. Have the ROW contractor-registration request and business classification.
  2. Identify the legal business/principal, owner and authorized representative separately.
  3. Keep the insurance, workers' compensation and traffic-control evidence distinct from security.
  4. Obtain the accepted bond form, city recipient wording, required sum, dates and filing directions.

Questions about this bond

Is this listed for all general contractors?

The reviewed page places performance/excavation security in the ROW contractor requirements, separately from its general-contractor category. Match the actual registration request.

Does the insurance certificate satisfy the bond requirement?

No. The ROW packet separately lists the excavation performance bond and insurance/training evidence. Use the city's accepted surety instrument.

How do I start the bond application?

Use Purchase Now to continue to Propeller in a new tab. Review the legal business, city-required recipient, ROW security form, sum and dates. Provider review/issuance, execution, registration filing and work-permit approval are distinct.
