What this bond does

Provide the trade-specific surety document required by Lincolnwood's contractor-license checklist.

Who needs it
Contractors whose work appears in a bonded trade row, including general, mechanical, electrical, roofing and other expressly listed classes.
Who it protects
The Village says required bonds must indemnify and hold harmless the Village and all public utility companies providing service within it from accidents and damages. Carry that wording into the accepted surety form rather than using insurance additional-insured language.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

A state credential does not settle every trade's bond requirement

Lincolnwood expressly lists $10,000 bonds for general contracting and several specialized trades. Roofing, elevator and fire-sprinkler rows require both the stated bond and a state credential. Do not import a neighboring municipality's trade exemption into this checklist.

Plumbing, irrigation and fire-alarm rows list their own credentials without the same bond entry. Use the row for the actual work and any Village instructions, rather than treating one trade's checklist as a blanket rule for the whole business.

Check the bond's face and original before filing

The Village requires the contractor's street address, city, state and ZIP on the face of the bond; a post-office box is not acceptable. The document must be numbered, and the original must be submitted to Community Development.

Purchase Now opens RLI in a new tab. Apply with the legal business details and the Village's accepted form. After issuance, check the required sum, address, bond number, dates and protected-party wording before arranging original delivery. The provider application does not complete Village licensing.

Questions about this bond

Does a state roofing or fire-sprinkler credential replace this bond?

Lincolnwood's checklist lists the state credential and a $10,000 bond for those trades. Follow its actual row rather than an exemption used by another municipality.

Can the bond show only my post-office box?

No. The Village requires a street address with city, state and ZIP on the bond's face and expressly rejects post-office boxes.

Is protecting only the Village enough?

The stated wording also includes all public utility companies providing service within the Village. Use the accepted form for that protection and the complete conditions.
