What this bond does

Town of Lynnfield, Massachusetts security for the performing contractor's permitted opening and restoration of the public way.

Who needs it
The contractor actually performing the opening, with the owner, work location and proposed utility or driveway activity correctly identified.
Who it protects
The accepted security protects the Town against failure to complete the permitted work or make required repairs/restoration. It does not authorize a new opening or guarantee unrelated parts of the owner's project.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Use the performing contractor and the right coverage

The current opening page includes the road, grass strip and sidewalk within the ROW. It addresses driveway changes and underground water, gas, drainage, electric and telecommunications work. It says the performing contractor must apply, with bond and insurance in that contractor's name; an owner's information does not replace that requirement.

The linked insurance/security sheet, dated June 17, 2010, lists $5,000 for both street opening and street access. The separate ROW manual says DPW establishes the bond amount for each permit based on restoration/repair cost and may accept an annual blanket bond. Confirm the assigned amount and whether a particular opening is covered; do not turn the sheet's figure into a universal maximum or presume blanket acceptance.

Confirm filing and the post-patch obligation

Purchase Now opens Propeller; the option displays no fixed amount or term. Give the issuer DPW's actual accepted instrument, required Town recipient/principal, amount, single-permit or approved blanket coverage and dates. Keep the manual's two-year guarantee following placement of the permanent patch separate from an annual blanket arrangement or a permit's work dates.

The current page offers an online application link but also retains an in-person procedure; the manual contains older mailed/delivered application directions. Ask DPW how it wants the executed bond filed. Online availability alone does not establish that a particular upload completes legal delivery or acceptance.

Submit the required location sketch and work details and obtain the signed permit before starting. The manual requires advance start notice and a permit at the site. Coordinate the actual assigned notices, inspection and restoration, and obtain release instructions for the applicable guarantee rather than assuming a calendar-year expiry clears the work.

Questions about this bond

Can the owner's name replace the performing contractor?

The current street-opening page says the contractor doing the work must apply and have bond and insurance in its name. Identify the owner separately where requested.

Does $5,000 automatically cover all my openings?

The posted sheet lists that figure, but the ROW manual describes assigned restoration-based amounts and an acceptable annual blanket alternative. Obtain DPW's actual amount and coverage decision.

Is the two-year patch guarantee the supplied bond term?

No term is supplied for this option. The manual's guarantee follows the permanent patch; the actual instrument must address the Town's assigned coverage and dates.
