Medway, MA — Right Of Way Bond

Medway's ROW licence requirements list a $5,000 performance bond for work on Town property and infrastructure covered by that licence. The current DPW page says an approved drainlayer does not need a separate ROW licence. Confirm the applicable qualification and obtain the actual street or utility work permission.

What this bond does

Town of Medway, Massachusetts performance security for its applicable ROW licence and assigned public-way obligations.

Who needs it
The person or business required to hold Medway's ROW licence, distinguishing an already approved drainlayer and any separately permitted utility work.
Who it protects
The accepted security concerns the Town work and restoration obligations covered by the assigned licence/instrument. It does not replace the particular street-opening or utility permit.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Check which Medway qualification applies

The licence sheet covers work on Town property, including paved/unpaved ROW, utility easements and Town infrastructure not covered by a separate permit. It lists a $5,000 performance bond and other qualification documents. The current DPW page expressly exempts approved drainlayers from a separate ROW licence; do not buy a second licence bond solely because the street work involves a utility.

The DPW page separately addresses water/sewer work and street openings, including driveways. It directs applications through Citizenserve. Its street-opening guidance does not require a separate trench submittal for that workflow; this does not eliminate excavation-safety obligations or independently required water/sewer permission.

Use the actual permit and keep restoration records

Purchase Now opens Propeller; the option displays no fixed amount or term. Match DPW's accepted form, Town recipient/principal, required amount, actual licence/work coverage and dates with the issuer. The annually renewed licence does not establish an annual term for the offered bond.

The current page's Street Opening Permit download opens a ROW licence-requirements sheet, not an issued work permit. Use the actual Town application process and confirm how DPW wants the executed security delivered. Arrange execution/filing and obtain work permission before starting.

The linked street standards require separate Town and Dig Safe start coordination and a completion notification. They call for inspection 30–60 days after permanent pavement repair, repeated after further repair, with inspection records available to the Town, and a one-year excavation warranty. Obtain the assigned restoration and security-release directions; a completed temporary patch is not final acceptance or automatic bond release.

Sources

Have these ready

  1. Actual Town property/ROW/utility-easement work and whether an approved drainlayer qualification already applies.
  2. Required licence holder/principal, Town recipient and accepted performance-bond form, amount, coverage and dates.
  3. Actual Citizenserve street/utility application rather than the licence-requirements download, with any separate required permission.
  4. Issuer execution/DPW filing, Town and Dig Safe coordination, completion notice and permanent-repair inspection records.

Questions about this bond

Does an approved drainlayer need a separate ROW licence?

The current DPW page says no. Confirm the applicable qualification and street/utility permits; that exception is not permission to skip the actual work application or other assigned security.

Is the Street Opening Permit download an issued permit?

The current linked download is a ROW licence-requirements sheet. Obtain the actual Town permission through its application process and confirm the security filing method.

Does an annual licence mean this bond has a one-year term?

The option states no fixed term. The licence cycle, excavation warranty and issued bond coverage must be checked separately with DPW and the issuer.
