Michigan — DOT Blanket Right Of Way Permit Bond

Confirm MDOT's accepted blanket security arrangement before choosing this listing. Identify the applicant and covered state-highway activities, permits and dates; blanket does not itself issue permits or establish a calendar-year term. MDOT requires registered agents—not applicants—to file bond and insurance evidence in its separate electronic system.

What this bond does

Michigan Department of Transportation security expressly accepted for a defined blanket ROW arrangement; exact scope and instrument remain factual-check-pending.

Who needs it
The legal applicant arranging accepted multi-activity or multi-permit state-highway security with its surety agent and MDOT permit coordinator.
Who it protects
Only the accepted instrument establishes the covered duties, permits, aggregate sum and period. It does not replace local road security, site approvals or activity-specific individual bonds.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Confirm what the blanket arrangement actually embraces

MDOT's construction page concerns Michigan state-highway ROW and directs permit questions to the local Transportation Service Center. Confirm state road jurisdiction, legal applicant, activity types and covered permit programme instead of assuming all city/county sites fit one bond.

Its infrastructure guidance has activity-specific requirements. Seismic exploration requires a $50,000 individual performance bond for each permitted activity and cannot use an annual exploration permit; the stated annual exception concerns certain transverse cable crossings. That is not a universal $50,000 blanket amount or proof a broad bond overrides individual requirements.

Ask the coordinator and issuer to identify the accepted blanket instrument, aggregate sum, included/excluded activities, territory, actual period and continuation/cancellation/release provisions. The reviewed public guidance does not settle those attributes for this offered option.

Separate the construction application from agent-filed security

Construction applications go through CPS via MDOT Permit Gateway/MiLogin. Bond and insurance evidence go through the separate MDOT E-Performance Bond and Certificate of Insurance application. Only registered surety/insurance agents receive access; the applicant/contractor must not register there. MDOT says Marsh and Acord forms are not accepted for this filing process.

Purchase Now opens Propeller. The option displays no fixed amount or term. Once MDOT confirms this arrangement, match applicant identity, required form, scope, sum and dates with the issuer and coordinate the registered agent's filing. An emailed certificate or the applicant's CPS attachment is not proof of accepted security.

Obtain each required construction permission and follow its plans, safety, work and restoration conditions. Keep the agent's accepted filing and project acceptance/continuation/release records; a bond titled blanket does not authorize a new job by itself.

Sources

Have these ready

  1. Michigan state-highway authority, legal applicant and actual proposed permit programme.
  2. Coordinator-confirmed blanket form/sum, activities, exclusions, period and continuation/release.
  3. Issuer match and registered-agent electronic bond/insurance filing in MDOT's separate system.
  4. CPS applications, actual required permits and individual activity closeout records.

Questions about this bond

Does blanket mean all Michigan roads or all future work?

No. Obtain MDOT's accepted state-highway programme and coverage. City/county requests and activity-specific individual security remain separate questions.

Should I register to upload the bond into MDOT's security system?

No. MDOT grants access only to registered surety/insurance agents, not applicants or contractors. Coordinate that agent filing separately from CPS.

Is a fixed annual period or amount provided here?

No. The option displays neither. MDOT and the issuer must confirm the actual blanket instrument, covered programme, sum and dates.
