Mississippi — Pawnshop Bond
Mississippi’s pawnshop program calls for $10,000 surety security, and pawnbrokers have been directed to use NMLS electronic surety bonds beginning November 1, 2025. Before applying through The Southern Agency, match the actual licensed office and current electronic request. A still-downloadable paper form is not proof that paper filing remains the accepted route.

What this bond does
The undertaking is payable to the State of Mississippi and supports the Department of Banking and Consumer Finance pawnshop license. The published Act describes faithful performance of licensed-business duties and prompt payment of judgments arising from violations of the Pawnshop Act.
- Who needs it
- The actual pawnshop licensee and licensed office—not a separate title-pledge lender or investment adviser whose security may have different conditions. Have the legal business, office and NMLS identifiers clear when matching the current request.
- Who it protects
- Section 75-67-323(1)(c) describes the licensee’s duties and judgments for damages or claims arising directly or collaterally from an Act violation. The Commissioner must approve the security. This is not an automatic payment for every customer complaint or a general policy on pledged goods.
Your bond option

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Questions about this bond
Can I rely on the downloadable paper model as today’s filing instructions?
No. The later Commissioner’s order specifically directs pawnbrokers to NMLS electronic surety bonds beginning November 1, 2025. The still-hosted paper model does not cancel that direction.
Does the $10,000 security make every complaint an automatic claim?
No. The published Act ties protection to the licensed duties and judgments connected with violations and requires Commissioner approval. Do not assume it is general pledged-property insurance.
Does January–December establish an automatic twelve-month option?
No. That is the Department’s license calendar. The public option supplies no term label; match the current electronic request and accepted dates rather than the old paper blank or a full year from purchase.
