What this bond does

Mississippi’s Bureau of Plant Industry requires a bond before issuing or reissuing the company license. For insect, rodent and plant-disease work, the minimum is $5,000; combined pest and weed work also uses at least $5,000.

Who needs it
Companies arranging security for licensed pest control services in Mississippi, with the proper licensed operator or permitted supervisor for the location. This is not a substitute for an individual’s examination or operator credential.
Who it protects
The bond is conditioned on compliance with the applicable Act and department rules and faithful performance of professional service contracts. The required liability insurance is separate.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

List the actual treatment categories

The Bureau’s form instructions require all covered category abbreviations on the bond. Use the category information from the examination letter and approved company application, such as wood-destroying insect or general pest control.

Weed-only work has a different $2,500 minimum and no insurance requirement under these provisions. Do not use that lower sum for a company also performing pest control.

Apply with matching company documents

Purchase Now opens Propeller in a new tab. Use the exact Bureau-approved company name, licensed location, categories and dates.

After issuance, check the principal and surety signatures and attached power of attorney. For insect, rodent and plant-disease categories, the bond and insurance certificate must use the same company name and expiration date. Provide the completed licensing evidence to the Bureau as instructed.

Questions about this bond

Can I use my trade name rather than the approved company name?

The Bureau’s instructions require the company name on the bond and insurance certificate to be exactly the same as approved for the licensee. Start with that approved name.

Does the bond replace the insurance certificate?

No. Pest categories require separate insurance evidence. The bond and insurance must have matching expiration dates for insect, rodent and plant-disease work.

What should I check on the issued bond?

Check all covered category abbreviations, the company identity, required signatures and attached power of attorney before using it in the licensing file.
