Morris, IL — Other Contractor License Bond

Morris lists a $10,000 standard license-and-permit bond for its “All Other Contractors” registration category. Check that classification before applying through Propeller; the City's general-contractor requirement is different.

What this bond does

Provide the standard license-and-permit security requested for Morris's other-contractor registration category.

Who needs it
Contractors registering with the City of Morris Building and Zoning Officer in the applicable other-contractor classification.
Who it protects
This bond supports municipal contractor registration under the accepted licensing form. It is distinct from the insurance certificates and construction-code compliance assurance included in the City's registration packet.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Match the City's contractor classification

The City's published chart lists $10,000 for All Other Contractors and $20,000 for General Contractor. Electrical, plumbing and HVAC are separately named in that chart. Use this page for the other-contractor bond request, rather than treating the general-contractor sum as another amount choice here.

The application separates business information from owner information and asks for the business type. Its code-compliance assurance is also a separate signed registration document. The bond does not complete that assurance or provide any applicable state trade credential.

Keep the bond current during registration

Morris registrations expire April 30 and renew May 1. That schedule does not by itself set the bond's term. The packet says a renewal bond must be mailed or faxed to the Building and Zoning Officer if the surety bond expires during registration, or registration will be suspended.

Purchase Now opens Propeller in a new tab. Apply with the other-contractor request and correct legal business identity. After issuance, check the requested sum, business classification and accepted form, then submit the bond with the City's separate registration documents.

Sources

Have these ready

  1. Confirm the City has classified your registration as Other Contractor.
  2. Have the $10,000 standard license-and-permit bond request.
  3. Prepare business and owner information under their correct roles.
  4. After issuance, check the bond details before completing City registration.
  5. Track the bond's own expiration separately from April 30 registration expiration.

Questions about this bond

Is the $20,000 general-contractor bond a choice on this page?

This page addresses the Other Contractor request. Morris's chart assigns $10,000 to All Other Contractors and $20,000 to General Contractor. Match the actual registration classification rather than changing categories to select an amount.

Does the bond necessarily end April 30?

April 30 is the City's registration expiration date. The packet separately addresses a bond that expires during registration and requires a renewal bond to avoid registration suspension. Use the issued bond's own dates.

Can a renewal bond be faxed to the City?

The packet expressly allows a renewal bond to be mailed or faxed to the Building and Zoning Officer if it expires during registration. That instruction does not establish a blanket fax rule for every initial registration document.
