What this bond does

Match this one-location street-obstruction offering to the City's requested permit security. Describe the actual occupation or work, such as equipment, building materials, a shed, or a permitted crossing of a sidewalk, rather than treating every obstruction as an excavation.

Who needs it
The legal permittee arranging a particular NYC street or sidewalk operation. Confirm the named location and DOT's work classification before using the existing Propeller application.
Who it protects
The published form addresses safe permitted use, protection of City property, removal of material and restoration, and repair of deficient work. It is not permission to obstruct pedestrian passage or a substitute for insurance.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Describe the obstruction and location

The one-location form covers several permitted activities, including roadway work, crossing curbs and sidewalks with equipment, sheds, and placement of materials. The permit's actual conditions control what can occupy the site and for how long.

DOT separately publishes multiple-location forms and a building-operations-only multiple-location form. Confirm your classification rather than assuming the word obstruction determines the bond category or that one-location security authorizes another site.

Restoration duties can continue after removal

Removing equipment or materials does not necessarily end the obligation. The form requires restoration of affected sidewalks, curbs, roadway and City property and replacement or repair of deficient work.

It references maintenance guarantees of up to 60 months after completion on protected streets and 36 months on unprotected streets. Have DOT identify the applicable status and guarantee conditions. Do not treat those periods as a new bond purchase term.

Prepare the bond and separate permit submission

Confirm the $10,000 one-location instrument, legal principal, site description, coverage year, dates and required permit attachment. Use the existing Propeller application once those details match and arrange the form's execution and surety attachments.

Submit the executed bond as DOT directs, alongside the separate insurance and permit requirements. The template uses calendar coverage and continuation certificates; obtain the permit before occupying the space and confirm any continuing guarantee and renewal instructions.

Sources

Have these ready

  1. Identify the exact site and actual street/sidewalk use, not just the label obstruction.
  2. Have DOT confirm the one-location form, work category and protected-street status.
  3. Prepare principal, permit description/attachment, $10,000 instrument and calendar coverage.
  4. Arrange execution, surety attachments, separate insurance and DOT work authorization.

Questions about this bond

Is a street obstruction always an excavation?

No. The form also describes permitted equipment, material, shed and sidewalk-crossing activities. Give DOT the actual use so it can identify the correct permit and bond category.

Does clearing the site end all restoration duties?

Not necessarily. The form also requires repair and restoration of affected City property and continuing work guarantees. Confirm inspection, acceptance and guarantee conditions for the site.

Can I use the same one-location bond for another address?

Do not assume so. Have DOT confirm location counting and the required category before adding work at another site. A general reference to City permits does not authorize unlimited locations.
