New York, NY — Street Obstruction (2-50 Locations) Bond

If NYC DOT requires its two-to-fifty-location permit-bond category, the currently linked form states $50,000. Confirm your street-obstruction work belongs in that category before applying; DOT's $25,000 multiple-location building-operations form is a separate instrument.

What this bond does

Arrange the City's requested multiple-location permit security for the principal's approved operations. Location count and work classification both matter; this listing does not combine all City permit categories into one blanket approval.

Who needs it
A permittee planning work at two to fifty locations under a DOT request for that form. Obtain the expected location count and activity descriptions for the coverage period and confirm any change in category before adding sites.
Who it protects
The official form secures permitted-work compliance, completion or repair, restoration of City property, and stated City costs and liabilities. It does not issue permits for the listed locations or replace separate insurance.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Match both the count and the work category

DOT's selected two-to-fifty-location form states a $50,000 penal sum. Its general-conditions page groups it with street and sidewalk opening bonds and separately lists the more-than-one-location building-operations-only template.

For obstruction work involving materials, equipment, sheds, or other street use, ask DOT to classify the actual activities. Do not choose the $25,000 building-operations form merely because it also covers more than one location, or assume this category extends beyond fifty sites.

Calendar continuation and cancellation have conditions

The two-to-fifty-location form describes calendar-year coverage and annual extensions evidenced by a continuation certificate executed by both principal and surety. Liability is not cumulative from year to year under its stated terms.

The surety's termination provision requires at least 30 days' written notice by certified mail to the stated parties. Cancellation does not apply to permits issued or work performed before the effective cancellation date. These provisions do not promise that earlier-work guarantees disappear when new coverage stops.

Apply for the bond, then complete DOT's permit process

Confirm the legal principal, accepted category, location count, $50,000 instrument, dates and calendar coverage with DOT. Continue through the existing Propeller application and arrange the required signatures, acknowledgments, authority documents and surety attachments.

Submit the executed bond using DOT's instructions and separately satisfy insurance and permit requirements for the work. Confirm restoration and maintenance obligations at each site; the bond is not authority to start all proposed operations.

Sources

Have these ready

  1. List the anticipated sites and actual activities during the requested coverage period.
  2. Have DOT confirm the two-to-fifty category rather than building-operations-only or a higher location band.
  3. Prepare the principal, $50,000 form, dates, coverage year and execution attachments.
  4. Arrange separate permit/insurance submissions, continuation instructions and post-work guarantee requirements.

Questions about this bond

Is the $25,000 building-operations bond interchangeable with this category?

No. The currently selected two-to-fifty-location template states $50,000, while the $25,000 form is labeled for building-operations permits only. Have DOT confirm your work classification.

Can the same category cover a fifty-first location?

Do not assume so. DOT publishes a separate 51-to-100-location template. Confirm how DOT counts your sites and what security it requires before expanding the work.

Does cancellation release the earlier permitted work?

The form says cancellation is not effective for permits issued or work performed before its effective date. Earlier-work and maintenance obligations can remain, so obtain the applicable continuation and completion instructions.
