North Kansas City, MO — Right Of Way Permit Bond

North Kansas City's ROW application requires a minimum $1,000 performance surety bond when excavating, alongside the City's insurance, licensing and plan requirements. Use the City of North Kansas City request, not Kansas City, Missouri's separate permit process. Describe the actual excavation and restoration before starting the existing Propeller application.

What this bond does

Secure the excavation undertaking required by North Kansas City's ROW permit process using the City's accepted performance-bond terms.

Who needs it
The named City ROW applicant, identifying the utility/facility owner, contractor, subcontractors and responsible site contact.
Who it protects
The performance security belongs to the City's excavation/restoration obligation. It is separate from liability insurance, business licensing and permission to occupy or excavate the ROW.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Prepare the excavation application

The current City-selected packet calls for location drawings, work dimensions, existing facilities and traffic control addressing vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians. Contractors and subcontractors need active North Kansas City business licenses.

The packet specifies a minimum $1,000 performance surety bond if excavating, with insurance and licensing on file before processing. The City's certificate-holder requirement does not by itself establish additional-insured status. Obtain the actual bond form, principal, required sum and dates rather than assuming every ROW occupation uses the excavation minimum.

File the issued bond, then obtain the permit

Purchase Now opens Propeller; the listed option supplies no fixed amount or term. After issuance, the City packet permits copies of the surety bond and insurance certificate to be emailed with the application to Publicworks@Nkc.org. Confirm that the submitted instrument meets the City's request and whether anything further is needed.

Obtain the approved permit before work and keep its copy or scan on site. The packet calls for 24-hour advance inspection notice and completion within 10 business days of groundbreaking. That work deadline is not a bond expiration date.

Follow the City's trench-plate, restoration and applicable winter-work conditions. City restoration at the applicant's expense after noncompliance is not a substitute for completing the applicant's own obligations.

Questions about this bond

Is this the Kansas City, Missouri ROW process?

No. North Kansas City is a separate city. Use its actual application and recipient rather than KCMO's CompassKC process or forms.

Can the bond copy accompany the application?

Yes. The current City-selected packet expressly permits emailing copies of the surety bond and insurance certificate with the application. That does not make a purchase receipt an issued bond.

Does the 10-business-day work deadline set the bond term?

No. It is measured from groundbreaking in the permit instructions. Match the bond's dates and conditions to the City's accepted instrument.
