Oakbrook Terrace, IL — Contractor License Bond

Oakbrook Terrace requires an original $10,000 bond for general contractors and specified subcontractors. Use the City's trade checklist: some trades have different document requirements, and the bond must name the City and required third-party beneficiaries.

What this bond does

Secure the permitted-work and City-code obligation described in Oakbrook Terrace's registration requirements.

Who needs it
General contractors and subcontractors whose City trade checklist requires a surety bond.
Who it protects
The City's requirements say the bond assures completion in accordance with the building permit and City code and must list the City and third-party beneficiaries as obligees. That defined protection is not a blanket guarantee of every private contract obligation.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Use the City's trade checklist and recipient wording

The currently linked requirements call for an original $10,000 surety bond for general and certain subcontractors. The trade table distinguishes bonded categories from reduced-document categories. Use the requirements for your actual work rather than assuming every registered trade needs the same documents.

Use the City's accepted wording for its own interest and the required third-party beneficiaries. Do not treat the insurance additional-insured instruction as the bond's complete obligee wording. Demolition can also involve separate structure-related security beyond the registration bond.

Register online and arrange the original bond

Purchase Now opens Propeller in a new tab. Apply with the correct business, trade and City bond request. After issuance, check the $10,000 sum, accepted obligee wording and execution.

The current City page requires registration applications through Cloudpermit and says to register for all applicable trades. Its linked checklist still requires the original bond to be mailed to Community Development, even when a fax copy is accepted. An online application does not establish that an uploaded copy waives the original.

The City's registration cycle runs May 1 through April 30. Use the bond's requested dates rather than turning that cycle into a fixed term choice.

Sources

Have these ready

  1. Identify every applicable trade on the City's checklist.
  2. Have the $10,000 request where your category requires it.
  3. Use the accepted City and third-party-beneficiary wording.
  4. After issuance, check execution and arrange the original bond.
  5. Complete the separate Cloudpermit registration for the applicable trades.

Questions about this bond

Does registering online eliminate the original bond?

The City requires applications online, but its linked checklist separately says the original bond must be mailed to Community Development. Do not assume uploading or faxing a copy replaces that instruction.

Is naming the City on the insurance certificate enough?

No. The bond requirements separately call for the City and third-party beneficiaries as obligees. Follow the accepted bond wording rather than copying the insurance naming alone.

Must every listed trade provide this bond?

The checklist distinguishes bonded trades from reduced-document categories and other exceptions, including stormwater work under a stormwater permit. Use the row and conditions applicable to your actual work.
