Oswego, IL — Excavation / Street Opening Bond

Match the Village of Oswego's actual excavation or street-opening request before applying. Its utility ROW application lists a $25,000 minimum bond or letter of credit, but that utility-specific document does not establish the security for every non-utility excavation.

What this bond does

Security requested for the particular Oswego Village excavation/street-opening obligation, with the applicable instrument and work category confirmed.

Who needs it
The legal applicant required by the Village request, coordinated with the utility company and contractor where the utility process applies.
Who it protects
The accepted bond defines the Village's protection. Utility-permit restoration duties are not proof that every offered bond guarantees an entire private project.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Identify utility versus other excavation work

The Village's current permit page assigns its utility application to Public Works. That ROW form separately identifies the utility company and contractor, including their 24/7 contacts, and requests project location, intent, construction details, materials and drawings. It lists minimum security of $25,000 by bond or letter of credit and separate additional-insured insurance. Obtain the accepted bond form and confirm whether that utility request is the obligation this offering must satisfy.

The permit page says contractor registration is no longer required, while contractor identity/contact information and applicable State licenses are still needed. An administrative registration field on the utility form is not a reason to assume this is a general contractor-license bond or that work security has been waived.

Keep utility work approval and restoration dates separate

For the utility process, applicable other-agency approvals precede Village permit issuance. After approval, the contractor must arrange the required on-site meeting with at least 48 hours' notice and keep the approved permit on site. Utility installations are not allowed on weekends or Village holidays; street cuts require prior permission. The provisions call for restoration within one month of initial excavation, weather permitting, and a Village-approved restoration schedule. That work deadline is not a published bond-expiration date.

Purchase Now opens Propeller; the option displays no fixed amount or term. Have the Village and issuer confirm the correct instrument for your actual utility or non-utility request, legal principal/recipient, amount, dates and filing. Arrange issuance and accepted delivery separately from permission to excavate, inspections and release.

Sources

Have these ready

  1. Actual Village request confirming utility versus other excavation/street-opening work and accepted provider instrument.
  2. Legal principal/recipient, required amount/dates and bond rather than assuming a letter of credit is the same product.
  3. Utility/contractor contacts, plans and work limits, separate insurance and applicable other-agency approvals.
  4. Accepted filing, permit, locating/meeting instructions, allowed work schedule, restoration and release.

Questions about this bond

Does the $25,000 utility minimum establish every excavation bond amount?

It is published in the utility ROW application. Confirm which request and accepted instrument apply to your actual excavation or street opening, especially non-utility work.

Does the registration field mean I need a contractor-license bond?

The Village's current permit page says contractor registration is no longer required, although contractor details and applicable State licenses remain necessary. Confirm the separate work-security request rather than inferring a licensing bond.

Does the one-month restoration deadline cancel the bond?

The utility provisions measure that weather-permitting work deadline from initial excavation. They do not establish the offered bond's term or automatic release.
