Palatine, IL — Contractor License Bond

Palatine's contractor bond requirement depends on the trade: its 2026 chart lists $25,000 for General and $10,000 for many other trades. One bond may name multiple trades, but each trade needs its own CSS registration.

What this bond does

Provide the trade-specific security requested for the applicable Village of Palatine contractor registration.

Who needs it
Contractors whose Palatine trade category calls for a surety bond, including businesses registering multiple trades.
Who it protects
The bond supports the obligations in the Village's accepted licensing form for the named trades. It does not replace the separate trade registrations or guarantee every private construction contract.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Match the trade and company name

The 2026 matrix assigns $25,000 to General and $10,000 to many named trades, including carpentry, concrete and roofing. It lists Fire Alarm as N/A and Plumbing/Water Service under 055 Illinois registration. Lawn Sprinkler has its own $10,000-or-055 instruction and credential requirement. Use the actual row for your work.

Bonds must name the trade or trades and match the company name on contracts and licenses. The Village allows multiple trades on one bond but still requires a separate CSS registration for each. Use the accepted request's amount for the listed trades rather than adding the individual sums together.

Check the issued document and complete CSS registration

Purchase Now opens Propeller in a new tab. Apply with the correct company identity, trade list and Village bond request. After issuance, check those details, the requested sum and the required 30-day cancellation clause. The bond must be signed by an owner or corporate officer.

Palatine requires registrations through its Citizen Self Service portal. Its current page says every contractor registration expires December 31 regardless of the bond's end date. A later bond expiration does not extend the Village registration.

Questions about this bond

Can one bond list multiple trades?

Yes. The 2026 instructions allow all applicable trades on one bond, while requiring separate CSS registrations. Use the Village's accepted amount for that request rather than adding or combining sums yourself.

Does every trade require the same bond?

No. General is listed at $25,000, many trades at $10,000, and some categories use different credential instructions. Check the actual trade row before applying.

Does a bond ending after December 31 extend my registration?

No. Palatine expressly says contractor registrations expire December 31 each calendar year regardless of bond end date. Renew the registration separately.
