What this bond does

The Virginia Auctioneers Board's individual form binds the named auctioneer and surety to the Commonwealth for at least $10,000. Its instructions require security covering the license period and call for a two-year bond with month-end expiration.

Who needs it
An individual auctioneer arranging Board license security. The Board lists a separate auction-firm bond; a firm file and a person's auctioneer application are not interchangeable.
Who it protects
The form addresses compliance with auctioneer laws and regulations and damages from the specified misstatement, misrepresentation, fraud or deceit of the principal or agents/employees. The surety's stated liability is limited to the bond sum; this is not the auctioneer's business-loss policy.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Order at the right stage and align the license dates

For examination applicants, the posted form says to submit the security after notification of passing, not with the initial examination application. Reciprocal applicants are told to include it with their completed reciprocity application. Follow the current checklist for any other Board application route rather than assuming those sequences apply to everyone.

Check the actual license effective and expiration dates. The form requires coverage over the license period, with month-end expiration in its two-year instructions. The Board's current answer also requires the bond expiration to coincide with the license expiration. This unlabeled catalog choice does not select an arbitrary two-year period.

Purchase Now opens Propeller. Review the principal's acknowledgment and the surety affidavit/acknowledgment, including attorney authority, before submitting the issued package. The Board's processing and license decision follow separately from checkout.

Sources

Have these ready

  1. Identify the individual applicant and application route.
  2. Check the Board's current submission stage for that route.
  3. Provide the actual license period and required month-end expiration.
  4. Use the individual auctioneer form, not the separate firm form.
  5. Arrange the principal acknowledgment and surety execution/authority.

Questions about this bond

Should an examination applicant submit the bond with the first exam application?

The posted form and current Board sequence say it is due after passing the auctioneer examination. Other routes have their own directions; reciprocity instructions call for it with that application.

Can I choose any two-year bond dates?

No. The posted instructions tie security to the license period and specify month-end expiration; the Board says expiration must coincide with the license's. Confirm the actual dates before issuance rather than assuming a term was selected here.

Is the individual form also my firm's bond?

The Board lists separate individual and firm forms. Use the actual license principal and requested instrument rather than assuming one filing automatically covers the other.
