Colorado — Paid Solicitor Bond

Arrange the security for your Colorado paid solicitor registration or renewal. The Secretary of State requires evidence of at least $15,000 and dates covering the registration period without a gap. Have the exact applicant name and matching attorney-in-fact authorization ready; annual renewal does not create a fresh limit for every claim.

What this bond does

Provide the accepted paid-solicitor registration security and maintain the required evidence through annual Secretary of State renewal.

Who needs it
Paid solicitors who must register or renew their registration with the Colorado Secretary of State to conduct charitable solicitation activities.
Who it protects
The actual form indemnifies the Secretary of State for covered losses and requires good-faith solicitation without fraud or violation of the Charitable Solicitations Act. Its payment conditions include a final charitable-fraud determination by the Secretary or a court and its separate provision addressing an unsatisfied court or binding-arbitration judgment for harm to a charity or donor. The bond is not an automatic refund for every complaint.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Match your bond to your registration

Your bond must strictly match the legal name used on your Colorado Secretary of State application. Discrepancies between the applicant name and the bond document can result in processing delays.

The effective and expiration dates must cover the one-year registration period without a gap. The instructions do not say a longer accepted coverage period must be shortened merely to make its dates exactly equal to the registration dates.

Document and maintain your coverage

You may provide the Secretary of State’s specific surety bond form or a copy of your bond. Ensure the document explicitly states the $15,000 coverage amount and is signed by the attorney-in-fact.

If you use an attorney-in-fact to sign your bond form, attach a copy of the valid Power of Attorney that lists the same authorized signer. The selected model also has principal and authorized surety execution fields and calls for a certified Power of Attorney.

The model gives the surety a 45-day written termination-notice requirement to both the principal and Secretary of State, reduced to 10 days for nonpayment of premium. Match those actual terms rather than assuming a standard 30-day notice.

Secure your annual renewal

All bonds require annual renewal to coincide with your license renewal. You can fulfill this requirement by providing a continuation certificate, a copy of the bond, or the official registration bond form.

Ensure all renewal documentation includes the current signature of the attorney-in-fact and, where required, an updated or valid Power of Attorney.

The selected model permits year-to-year continuation through a certificate attached electronically to registration or renewal. Its $15,000 aggregate does not increase with the age of the bond, number of claims or number of payments. Renewal filing and the available aggregate are different matters.
