Florida — ERISA Bond

Choose an ERISA fidelity bond for your employee benefit plan through this Florida page. One-year and three-year RLI applications are available; confirm the required amount separately.

Also known as Florida ERISA Bond (1 Year); Florida ERISA Bond (3 Years); Florida ERISA Bonds

2 options on record. Choose the one that matches your requirement, then purchase.

How a fidelity bond works

Fidelity protection responds to covered dishonest acts. The form identifies whose money or property is protected, the covered persons, and the applicable limits.

What this bond does

The bond protects plan funds and other property against covered fraud or dishonesty by people handling those assets.

Who needs it
Plan sponsors and administrators arranging bonding for ERISA-covered plan asset handlers, where no applicable exemption removes the requirement.
Who is protected
The plan is the insured party. The bond does not replace fiduciary liability insurance or provide general liability coverage for the employer.

Choose from 2 options

Each option is a separate record. Where a term, bond amount, premium, or E&O limit is known, it is listed; match it to what your requirement asks for.

The coverage amount describes a limit of protection, not the price. Match the requested protection and covered persons to the actual fidelity form. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Match the bond to the plan's handling activities

Include people who can direct disbursements or transfers when identifying handlers. Outside providers can also need bonding if they or their employees handle plan assets, unless an exemption applies.

ERISA bonding rules are federal; the Florida label does not establish a separate state requirement. Your adviser can determine the appropriate amount. The 36-month and 12-month choices here specify duration only, so verify the amount with RLI during the application.

Questions about this bond

Can an outside service provider need bonding?

Yes, if the provider or its employees handle the plan's funds or other property and no exemption applies.

Will fiduciary liability insurance meet the requirement?

No. Fiduciary liability insurance addresses breaches of responsibilities and does not satisfy ERISA's fidelity bonding requirement.

Does a longer term increase the amount?

Selecting three years does not itself increase the coverage amount. Confirm the amount your plan needs independently.

How does the purchase handoff work?

Purchase Now opens RLI's application in a new tab. Complete its process, then check the issued document and keep it with the plan's records.
