Hawaii — Paid Solicitor Bond

Hawaii calls the compensated solicitation role a professional solicitor. Section 467B-12 requires that applicant's $25,000 bond to remain effective for one year, with registration renewed by July 1. Match this Paid Solicitor listing to that actual role rather than treating every fundraising consultant or online platform as the same applicant.

What this bond does

Provide Attorney General-approved professional solicitor security under HRS Section 467B-12(b), alongside the required registration filing.

Who needs it
The compensated professional solicitor requesting contributions for a charity. Professional fundraising counsel also registers, but the statute's $25,000 bond clause specifically names professional solicitors; a charitable fundraising platform has its own distinct rules.
Who it protects
The bond benefits Hawaii and is conditioned on the applicant and its officers, directors, employees, agents, servants and independent contractors not violating Chapter 467B. Keep that state-benefit condition distinct from a promise to meet a fundraising target or pay every donor; use the complete accepted undertaking when determining any claim rights.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Details for the solicitor role and annual filing

Under the rule effective July 1, 2026, a professional solicitor must maintain $25,000 security for one year and renew registration on or before July 1. Arrange the actual bond period and renewal statement with the Attorney General before beginning or continuing solicitation.

The applicant is the principal, with surety or sureties approved by the Attorney General. A professional solicitor partnership or corporation may file a consolidated undertaking for all its members, officers and employees. That permission is not automatic coverage of unrelated fundraising businesses.

The registration identifies the actual entity form, owners and management, Hawaii office and solicitation supervisors, relevant disciplinary/criminal disclosures, solicitation start date and specified relationships with charities or vendors. Registration is required before solicitation; purchasing security does not submit or approve that statement.

The Attorney General's current Professional Fundraiser Registration System accepts registration and renewal management, surety bonds, contracts and end-of-campaign reports. Use that official filing route after arranging the accepted solicitor undertaking, dates and required execution. The separate charity portal is not the provider's purchase application.

Keep the year of required security and the July 1 registration cycle aligned with the Department's instructions. Ask for the undertaking's actual cancellation and signing instructions; consultant, charity and platform registrations do not substitute for the solicitor's filing.

Questions about this bond

Is this the bond for every registered fundraising consultant?

No. Section 467B-12 requires registration of both professional fundraising counsel and professional solicitors, but its $25,000 bond clause names the professional solicitor. Match the real compensated solicitation role rather than transferring that clause to every consultant.

Does a one-year bond remove the July 1 renewal requirement?

No. The statute requires one-year security and annual registration renewal on or before July 1. Arrange approved security for the required period and submit the renewal statement; bond payment alone does not renew the registration.
