Mississippi — Professional Fund-Raiser Bond
Mississippi's professional fundraiser application requires $10,000 security under Section 79-11-513. Plan around the June 30 registration cycle, not a year measured from checkout. Bring the charity contracts and campaign materials as well as the bond; registration, solicitor filings and campaign notices are separate steps.

What this bond does
Provide the professional fundraiser's statutory security for Secretary of State approval, using the charitable-solicitation condition rather than an unrelated same-sum undertaking.
- Who needs it
- The professional fundraiser applying or renewing with the Charities Division. The rules separately describe fundraising counsel and individual professional solicitors; their registration duties do not make them interchangeable bond principals.
- Who it protects
- The statutory bond runs to the Secretary of State for Mississippi and persons with causes of action for malfeasance or misfeasance in the covered solicitation. The surety's aggregate for the state and all such persons cannot exceed $10,000. That surety limit does not otherwise cap the fundraiser's or another person's liability for violating the Act.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Have these ready

- Match the $10,000 Section 79-11-513 condition, legal principal, accepted period and required execution.
- Confirm the current Charities Division directions for Treasurer filing and Secretary of State approval.
- Prepare charity contracts, solicitation materials, personnel applications and campaign notices.
- Track June 30 renewal and required bond/continuation evidence separately from campaign reporting.
Questions about this bond
Is registration effective for a year from my bond purchase?
No. The rules make registration effective on certificate issuance and set June 30 expiration, with renewal materials due by that date. Match the accepted bond period or continuation evidence to the actual registration.
Is $10,000 a separate limit for every donor?
No. Section 79-11-513 limits the surety's aggregate liability to the state and all covered persons to the bond sum. It separately preserves other persons' liability for violating the Act; the bond is not unlimited donor protection.
