What this bond does

Maintain the funeral seller's required security for trust-funded prepaid funeral merchandise and service contracts under NRS 689.185.

Who needs it
The funeral-home or mortuary entity licensed by the Nevada State Funeral Board and seeking or maintaining funeral-seller authority from the Division of Insurance. Individual employees selling for it need separate funeral-agent licenses.
Who it protects
The actual form is payable to the State of Nevada for persons damaged by violations of Nevada insurance law. It requires the principal, its agents and employees to comply faithfully and pay covered damages from violations or fraud, dishonesty, misrepresentation or concealment of material facts in governed transactions.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Details for trust funding and the seller's undertaking

The Division requires no less than $50,000 or its determined sum for trust-funded prepaid contracts. It also allows the specified cash or negotiable-securities deposit, maintained at the required market value. This page's Purchase Now link is the surety application, not a deposit arrangement with the Division.

The published exception applies when the seller offers only contracts payable solely from life-insurance proceeds and collects no money from the purchaser. Confirm both conditions. A life policy is a separate contract that requires an appropriately licensed producer; the funeral-seller bond does not provide that authority.

A funeral-seller license does not authorize prepaid sales of a cemetery authority's goods and services. Those follow the separate cemetery-seller program. Match the funeral entity's legal name and authority; an employee's funeral-agent license does not replace the seller's undertaking.

The Division's actual template remains effective until the Commissioner releases the surety or the surety cancels under the form and Nevada law. Cancellation requires written notice to both the principal and Commissioner in accordance with that law. The funeral-seller license's triennial renewal cycle does not make the bond a three-year undertaking.

All prepaid contract forms require Division approval before use. Coordinate the accepted seller bond, actual sum and effective date, principal execution, surety seal and attorney-in-fact execution with the application. Keep the seller's licensing, approved contracts and trust-reporting obligations current after issuance.

Questions about this bond

Is every funeral seller required to maintain this bond?

The Division requires security for trust-funded prepaid contracts. Its published exception is for sellers offering only contracts payable solely from life-insurance proceeds and collecting no purchaser money. Confirm the actual funding and collection arrangement.

Does this also authorize prepaid cemetery sales?

No. The Division expressly separates a funeral seller's authority from the cemetery-seller program. Identify whether the applicant is selling funeral-home services or a cemetery authority's merchandise and services.
