How a fidelity bond works

Fidelity protection responds to covered dishonest acts. The form identifies whose money or property is protected, the covered persons, and the applicable limits.

What this bond does

The bond protects plan funds or property against covered fraud or dishonesty by people handling those assets.

Who needs it
Plan sponsors and administrators arranging required bonding for ERISA-covered asset handlers, unless an exemption applies.
Who is protected
The plan is insured. Fiduciary liability insurance and business liability coverage address different risks.

Choose from 2 options

Each option is a separate record. Where a term, bond amount, premium, or E&O limit is known, it is listed; match it to what your requirement asks for.

The coverage amount describes a limit of protection, not the price. Match the requested protection and covered persons to the actual fidelity form. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Keep the amount separate from the term choice

The 36-month and 12-month RLI options show duration without a coverage amount. Have the plan adviser determine the sum from handling activities and relevant circumstances.

ERISA bonding is federal. The Oklahoma label creates no separate state requirement. Confirm that the application identifies the insured plan and the intended effective dates before completing it.

Questions about this bond

Who must be identified as insured?

The plan must be named or otherwise specifically identified as an insured party.

Does three years guarantee enough protection?

The term alone does not establish adequacy. Review the amount and coverage as plan circumstances change.

Does fiduciary liability insurance satisfy bonding?

No. It does not satisfy the ERISA fidelity bonding requirement.
