What this bond does

The State Board of Auctioneer Examiners lists separate personal and corporate bond forms. Its personal form names an individual applicant and a $5,000 undertaking to the Commonwealth under the Auctioneer Licensing and Trading Assistant Registration Act.

Who needs it
An auctioneer preparing personal license security. The Board also lists the personal form for apprentices and trading assistants, but those roles and their application requirements remain distinct.
Who it protects
The form requires observance of applicable laws and rules and provides for enforcement by the Commonwealth and persons with a cause of action under the Act. It does not insure the auctioneer's own stock, proceeds or business income.

Your bond option

This is the option on record for this bond.

The bond amount describes the limit of the bond obligation, not the price. A listed amount does not establish what the requesting party requires. The premium is what you pay and must be confirmed for the actual option. An E&O limit, where listed, is separate errors and omissions insurance.

Use the personal form and matching attorney certification

Put the actual individual applicant and auctioneer capacity in the file. The Board's separate corporate-coverage form is not evidence that a company's bond automatically substitutes for personal license security.

The current personal form continues until written notification of cancellation by the surety. It also contains judgment and enforcement provisions; read the complete issued document before signing rather than treating it as a certificate of insurance.

Purchase Now opens RLI. Check the applicant and witness signatures and the surety execution. The form requires a certified power of attorney, with the certification date agreeing with the bond's execution date. Follow the Board's filing directions after issuance; completing checkout is not license approval.

Sources

  3. Keep any company-license security in its own file.

Questions about this bond

Can I use my auction company's bond instead?

Do not assume so. The Board publishes separate personal and corporate forms, and the personal form identifies an individual principal. Match the actual license request before selecting an instrument.

Does the personal form end automatically with a fixed purchase period?

The posted form says it continues until written cancellation notification by the surety. Check the actual issued dates and the Board's current renewal directions; this catalog choice does not display a selectable term.

Is the attorney-in-fact's signature alone enough?

The posted form also requires a certified copy of the power of attorney and matching certification/execution dates. Review the full execution package before filing, including the individual and witness portions.
