Carriage claims
Loss, damage, delay, or misdelivery may lead to different contractual remedies.
Try a different word, or check the spelling.
Your booking platform can stop taking cargo while the vessels and terminals remain undamaged. Cyber interruption, carriage remedies, and marine protection need different terms, with missed voyages or misdelivery reviewed on the actual event and responsibility.
Bring trade lanes, vessel and charter roles, carriage documents and the booking systems on which your service depends.

You coordinate vessel operations, port calls and cargo bookings, often using connected logistics systems. Lost freight can lead to a carriage claim, while ransomware may halt bookings without damaging a ship.
The Southern Agency can review your shipping and data responsibilities to help you choose insurance. We can discuss vessel and cargo-related interests alongside cyber protection for booking systems, keeping operational damage and service-interruption demands separate.
Loss, damage, delay, or misdelivery may lead to different contractual remedies.
Grounding, collision, and fire threaten hull and machinery.
Booking and tracking platforms can be compromised.
Bunker fuel or cargo can be released after damage.
Leadership, employment, and crew injury claims need distinct provisions.
Policies to ask about. Which ones fit depends on your operations, your contracts, and the carrier’s forms.
These hypothetical examples are not agency claim results. Whether a loss is covered depends on the facts, policy terms, and applicable exclusions.
Suppose containers are lost overboard and cargo interests pursue the shipping line. Review actual custody, carriage documents and applicable liability rules against the accepted marine liability grant. Cargo owners' property insurance differs from the carrier's liability; office property or ordinary excess does not replace either.
Suppose ransomware locks the booking platform while vessels remain undamaged. Cyber terms may address a covered security event, eligible recovery and defined interruption after any waiting period. Missed sailings, carriage penalties and customer service promises are separate losses, not automatic downtime benefits.
Suppose investors allege that directors mismanaged a decision preceding a vessel casualty. D&O may address an accepted management claim for included entities and roles, subject to conduct and other exclusions. Repairing the ship, replacing cargo or paying fines does not automatically become a D&O benefit because directors are named.
Start with the work you do and the questions your current policies leave unanswered. Carrier options depend on your location, risk, and underwriting. Explore our approach.
A commercial line needs carriage and enterprise review beyond a private-boat policy.
Cyber can address qualifying booking or tracking incidents under defined restoration and income terms.
D&O concerns covered leadership allegations, not the ship or cargo itself.
Lost cargo requires the appropriate cargo or carriage-liability form and applicable contract.
Pollution response depends on insured material, responsibility, and trigger.
Employment terms need the actual shore and sea workforce and jurisdictions.
Bring your questions, current policies, and relevant contracts. An agent can review coverage terms, exclusions, and the information carriers ask for, then explain the options available to you.
